motor/trany swap

i have a 69 mustang grande, 302 3spd, i wanna drop in something bigger and a 4spd. i have a 351w block in my basement i could build thats not in bad shape, my question is, should i build the 351w and drop it in, or should i go for a big block like a 429? and what transmission should i go with, a 4spd or a 5spd, and what make? also what can i get a 9" rear off of, my 69 is just a peg leg 8", thanks

for a reasonable opinion, you need to inform as to your intentions with your car. Street? Drag? Opentracker? Daily driver? Weekends?

it would be a daily driver, but ild want to be able to bring it to the track and do pretty good as well, somwhere in the 12's

a 12 second daily driver...hee hee . Seriously, you gotta go BIG!! But with current gas prices I am glad my 67 is not my daily driver. If you go big block you will also need to build the tranny up for high torque and get a 8.8 or 9 posi rear end.
