Mounting Tach to Dash

I picked up a 5" autometer monster tach and need to pick a mounting location. I am probably going to install it on the flat dash tray above the center vents....unless anyone else has a better idea.....?

I am thinking the best way is to just drill some holes and use rivets? I don't think screws would work as well unless there was a backer plate or nut on the other side.

Can you just drill the holes and fish the wires without removing any dash pieces?

i mounted mine on the side. pulled the switches out held the tach up marked it the drilled the holes. then used small bolts and nuts to hold it. my friend did it out on the flat spot on the dash and it did not work out good.
