Hey guys,

Sold my msd 6A and bought a used 6AL. Little did I know was that the person had it on an import and that to use the 6AL on a 4 or 6 cyl there is a little black cover for the cylinder select. The person cut two sets of small wires. Well now I'm hooped!

Can I open the box to lengthen and reattch these wires? How do I crack open the box? Sending this to MSD is not an option, I need the car to get up and running this weekend! Thanks

i think those wires are for the rev limiter, you can still drive the car.

Correct but incorrect - it is rev limiter calibration, but it has to be set back to 8 cyl. for the ignition to operate correctly or you are going to have "rev limiter problems" because the box thinks its on a 4 cyl.
The guy cut both wires because it was a 4 banger. Its nothing a lil solder won't fix for a skilled IPC certified guy like myself .

update *******

Got it fixed. Was able to (took a long time) pull just enough wire through the plastic hard piece to strip them and soder them together. shrink tubed it.

installed and seems to work ok as the rev limiter kicked in.
