Which is why all the houses I like are big bucks cause i want at least a 2 car garage for my stangs. They need to be out of the weather

I used to keep my car under a cover (my old stang) for the winters
and you're absolutely right, there's nothing better than a garage.

but it still gets dusty man,
my car is never safe from the elements.

I washed, waxed, and polished yesterday. Then last night I went to a friends house in the country. Well this happened. But i live in Louisiana, so what do you expect?

Im seriously considering gettign abra and keeping it on thjis time of year. I already had to repaint my bumper cause of those damn bugs.

by the way, just to update with more proof of the law, I washed my car up and waxed it twice (took about 4 hours) to take it to an STOA open track day at Summit Point, the whole drive home (3 hours) was in driving rain, I got home with a FILTHY car...guess I'll clean it all over again tomorrow :damnit:

I've washed it once more since starting this thread because it rained.

The wax that was on the car? pft, non-existant... you can't even tell... the swirl marks are back with a vengence.

So come tomorrow, I'll be right with you, cleaning away.

as for the bra...
omg
i had a bra on my first stang, just a mini hood cover, and you want to talk about having to repaint a front end... after you have that bra on, you'll be doing just that.

see... now here's my question, if you wash your car as often as we seem to do, what's the point in waxing it when all you'll do is wash it right off.

plus i like to use a paint cleaner when i wash my car because it takes away many of the swirl marks.
is there really any way of winning without having to wax your car every time you wash it?

try to use soft water if at all possible...or that mr.clean device works really well (don't use the soap...wayyy too expensive..)...but if you just run water through the filter element, you'll get no water marks whatsoever.

I find the biggest PITA to be the goddam trunk...seems no matter what I do as far as drying, as soon as I pull away, I get mad dribbling coming out from the licence plate area...which then spreads all over my bumper (typically extremely dirty too)

I pop the trunk, let alot of water come from under the spoiler bases, then get a rag and wipe where it all runs under the lid. Then i fold my shammy and dry under the tail lights.
I ALWAYS go drive down the road going as fast as I can and get home before the water that ran out can dry, then I wipe it up.

You should not be "washing" your wax off. What the heck do you use on it for a soap?

Beat this.. I pulled my car out of the shop after colors sanding and buffing the new paint... A bird **** right on the middle of my hood, not even 20 feet out of our shop!

Good tip Therian.
I try to use as little soap as possible, but I can try using softer water. I just always get so discouraged after washing the car because it never turns out as nice as it did when I first waxed it.

and man! i ALWAYS get the trunk trickle...
i usually wipe down my trunk lid and wing probably 5 times, and water still collects... sometimes i just drive up and down the street at 100 mph just to blow the water off.

You should not be "washing" your wax off. What the heck do you use on it for a soap?

maybe i said it a bit incorrectly...
i'm not necessarily washing my wax off, but the look, i get these light swirl marks after washing it which i used to get rid of with this paint cleaner i had, but since i waxed it i don't want to use the paint cleaner to smooth the paint.

I put a hood bra only on mine for about 2 weeks and when I took it off, it had ruined the paint underneath, turned it pink, something to do with water getting underneath and then being heated by the sun or something. In the end I made CoverCraft pay to get my hood repainted to the tune of $450

That might be a good idea. My hood is in bad shape.
