Hmmm....how many fairmont owners do we have here participating in this forum?

I always get kind of amused at the guy that gets all bent out of shape when his brand/model/ gets attacked by somebody else. But since for most of us that modify cars (whether that be Ford, or Chevy, or anyother brand when you are a "car guy") most cars are extensions of who we are.......insult my car, you insult me.

But some people are entirely too touchy.

I had a friend back in my drag racing days, and just smack talkin, could be pushed far enough to visually get mad.
And all you had to do was dog a 67 Camaro. Not even his 67 Camaro. Just the brand and model.

For me, you can talk sht about Ford, You can just dog cuss a Fairmont into the ground, you can even talk bad about the Monster, up to a point.......But if there started to be a rash of videos out there of Fairmonts crashing into cars, or crowds.....

I'd still sleep exactly the same as I do now.

Who gives a french fried fck?

The guys in the videos that turn off the T/C and somehow lose control 60' down the road are guys that shoulda never shut off the TC in the first place. Guys that own GT500's are clearly not children, but in alot of instances they are what I've always accused them of being.....

Posers. Who've never had that much power under their foot.

But quite frankly, what happens to the car that they just dart right or left instead of fishtailing or drifting?

A salesman came into the sales off and asked if anybody knew how to use the Launch control feature on the M-6 (575 HP) that we have used on the lot because he wanted to demonstrate it. It involves turning off the traction control, putting the car in sport + mode and standing on the brake and gas simultaneously till a checkered flag icon appears, and it's on like Donkey Kong after that. Mgmt absolutely flat told dude to not do that unless he wanted to end up like one of the Mustangs or Camaros on you tube, and be liable for a 120,000.00 car.

That would've at least gave me something to talk about....

Then all of the M guys would be p issed that there was a slew of M fail videos out there w/ the requisite Memes that go with them (if there isn't already).

Ah the Traction Control morons. You can help but to love them. It's the excuse for everything and should be the new top for two separate lists:

Why I'm such an a-hole that I killed the new car and a Goodwill bin

and

Ricer excuses why I just got spanked by a 20+ year old Fox body

Don't get worked up. All cars, especially the popular, sportier ones, have morons driving them. People on social media always need something to rag on and Mustangs are the flavor of the day. Trying to refute it or point out other examples just makes you look butt hurt and nothing gets people more likes than reposting someone who is butt hurt. Just worry about yourself. It will pass with time.

My little pony. It will be my girl's car if she does not get a used, new Beetle.

@madmike1157 I am not dissing you or the GM/Cyclone. I was going to insert a 5.0 drivetrain into a Fairmont until I went for a ride along in a Crown Vic cop car. I realized a Grand Marquis would be nicer and cheaper than any Fairmont I could build. My wife still thinks it is a funeral home car, but 27 mpg from a boat is hard to argue with. And it has a better towing capacity than some suv's.

Even the author or editors at a GM focused site kind of go off on Camaro drivers. Like has been mentioned, Mustangs are the flavor of the month and they are just popular enough to have a greater amount of morons than the other brands. Again, more money than sense.

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2015/06/1975-camaro-burnout-can-only-be-described-as-a-sad-failure/

After watching this video and seeing some of the dips that wreck at Mustang Week (and other places...), I guess one could claim that at least the Mustangs are actually going fast enough that the driver could lose control. This clip seems like it goes in slow motion in comparison....

I have always said, if you have to hold the brake to smoke the tires... I don't remember the rest but I do remember that in '84 my Dads pathetic 4cylinder S-10 would do a "brake stand"... so... that right there is my yardstick to brake stands... congrats, you've just displayed the massive power equivalence of a '84 4cylinder S-10.

Uhhh, ...... You mean your wondering whether or not It doesn't bother me that Mustang gets a bad rap in the public eye as a result of morons posting videos of morons, and then other morons reposting a clip of one of the videos in the form of a Meme?......
You mean that kinda "vague?"

Yes.
It's a No.

My simple answer...no, memes don't bother me. Some are actually clever/funny-most are stupid. I don't care much about the "abuse" of mustang ownership. My entire cast of friends/family do it all the time. I still like them(well most of them that is). I don't see a lot of memes anyway. I don't go on social media anymore(unless this site counts?).

The people getting bent about the memes is the best part of them. If you can't find humor in any of them (some of them are friggin hysterical) then you're wound a little too tight defending an inanimate objects feelings.

And I'll second that a large majority of car enthusiasts are jack wagons anyways
