Has anybody raced one? I'm talking about the 2 door, supercharged version. It's funny, because I went on the cobalt forums and not one of them admited to being defeated by a a mustang. Actually, they say they have destroyed them. But then I see this...

http://media.putfile.com/SS-vs-GT

and I laugh. My friend has one of them, and they are pretty quick, but I don't think they're a match for a 99-on stang.

If you have raced one, say what model year your car is, and what mods you had at the time.

Those kids are SRT-4 guys all over again. But not all of the SS's are supercharged...the ones that are can be made decently fast from what I've read. Still fwd with a power adder car seems kinda counter productive to me.

I raced a SCed one...

My car: '01 GT
Mods: predator, 4.10, mid-pipe, catback.

They really shine on the launch... I barely pulled 2 carlenghts on him from 0 to 50 mph. I kept spinning (thanks to the 4.10 gear).

Above 50 mph, NO MATCH. I could let him go & reel him easssily. I pulled at least 6 carlenghts on him from 50 to 100 mph.

There was a Stage II SS at the track last year. It ran 13.8 @ 100 mph which is about as fast as a well driven stock GT. Forget about a stock SS, any decently driven '99+ GT should have no problem.

every time they boost a 4cyl in an economy car all the 17-19 year olds (my age group) get a major hard on. I'm 1 of like 15 people in my town that doesn't drive an import and the import kids hate on me because my cars a "POS"..then we line up and i shut their mouths with my basically stock, poorly driven GT

LOL. They must be racing 94-98 GT's or 99-04 autos, I've seen stock SS/SC's do 14.5 so I'm sure with some small changes 14.2-3 is in reach, but the only manual 99-04 GT's they are beating either didn't race, or had piss poor drivers.

I like them, I perfer the Saturn Ion Redline more though.

You guys really aren't giving them their credit. With a few 1000 bucks these things will be low 13's no sweat. They have potential.

As far as stock vs stock, the 99+ should be able to handle them without much of a problem.

Plus the sales on these things are way up. Putting a power adder on a front wheel drive car, from the factory, is a marketable endeavour. These things really loosen up with an aggressive dyno tune.. even on a stock one.

Actually, if anyone were at HRP 2 weeks ago, they got to witness what a near stock NPI auto does against a supercharged cobalt SS with an annoying exhaust.

I ran my lovely 14.74 @ 93.2 against his 14.83 @ --.-- (the people I had with me didn't recall his MPH). If the driver would have cut a good light, the race would have been super close between the two of us, however I cut a decent light (.07) against his .34.

It was still a good race It would have likely walked me from a roll since it seems he was making up some ground towards the end.

The stock ones are about average. Along the lines of the SRT-4. They can be modded to be quicker but dollar for dollar the Stang will always be faster.

Just got the stang, plan on going this summer, but his times sound better than what I've read for a non-pi automatic, plus his mustang is almost exactly like mine, just wondering what he does.

I raced one on an 1/8th mile track last yr befroe my engine swap and i had the stock 2.73 gears and i had a car length on him at the finish. I watched him for a while before we raced and he seemed to be a good driver. I think all these ricers forget TORQUE is what wins drag races.

My friend has one.

We only raced once, and it was a 60-120MPH rolling start. We were door to door the entire time.

We'll get some numbers on it this spring at the drag strip, and then he's doing the GM Stage 2 upgrade kit
