Welp, $100 on marketplace and no bites. Oh well

Haven’t messed with the fox in months. Lots of work travel this summer. Currently 15min down the road from Maximum Motorsports

Going to see if I can take a ride by

Are you at Hearst Castle up by San Simeon? Benn a few years since I have been there but for some reason that patio seemed familiar.

Love that area, anywhere from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles are our go to spots to stay the night on our road trips up to NorCal.

Yup. That was Hearst.

This place has some amazing views.

Saw tons of clean, older cars. But amazingly only one Foxbody so far

When I moved to Phoenix from back east decades ago, I couldn't believe all of the clean, older vehicles I was seeing. It wasn't long before I started buying classics.

I’m seeing cars I haven’t seen in years. Lots of older F150s, and tons of cool 80s era vans and trucks and other stuff.

Final night and I get to go home. My rental is some lame corolla the last 2 weeks and I just hate it.

I’ve been in Albuquerque pretty much my whole life and older cars are everywhere. I understand when you guys from back east and north of the rust belt get excited when you see them.

Glass out. That was easy. Put it in the sun and the tool cut through it like butter. All of 5-10 mins to do.

Unfortunately now that I can work on the glass, I’m getting inconsistent readings on the defrost grid. Not sure it works well enough to my liking. Gonna borrow an infrared camera and put 12v to it and see what happens. But I think all the conductive paint bled out a bit too much and the grid has too many breaks

But this project might be over. Gonna clean it up and toss back on marketplace. What’s used hatch glass go for? I did all the hard work removing it. I know the hatch trim has value.

I had a guy complaining to me that I should have a rear defroster, that it's not factory glass, I bought thr car new and that's how it came, so I got to wondering if it's a factory mistake

That does look pretty slick! I wouldn't change a thing.

I can't say for sure, but back then a lot of bits and pieces were optional. Dealers just ordered certain items as standard fare, making the trimmer build lists more rare in terms of production numbers. Sometimes things got promoted to standard equipment for the next MY when the take rate gets overwhelmingly high.

I was working in calibration development on a car model which had just gone into it's 4th year of production when we got an emergency call from plant management. Long story short; someone ordered one without A/C for the first time in the model's run. We had to release an emergency software/cal to cover the no-A/C combo since the A/C control and diagnostics were active in all of the cal variants we had delivered. We checked back to the original BoM and found that opting out of A/C was in the plan, but it took more than 3 years before someone decided to go that route. I'm guessing that it was 1/1, maybe destined to be a track car, since the model got dropped shortly after due to the late-2000s downturn.

On the Marti report for both my 90GT and my son's 89GT they both list "Electric Rear Window Defroster" under the features (options) section. I have seen the odd hatch for sale with no defroster grid in it. I would expect the glass to be stamped with a Carlite stamp as well.

I would expect that cars built for the southern areas of the country would not have the rear window defroster option.

Defrost definitely was an option. I'd imagine southern cars didn't come with it as much. TBH I do not need it at all, but it's just one of those things where if the car had it, i want it functional.

I'm also a bit of a "snob" in the sense that if a car has an available option, i'll try and add that feature even if i have no use for it. my '88 didn't have Cruise, but I added it. Have I used it? Hell no. But it works.

I'm the opposite of a "delete" type person.

I'm also back home. Took the Fox for a spin last Sun to do more tuning. Getting into fall now and great driving weather so I want a few more drives to work the VE table a bit more. Still pulling fuel out but a lot more responsive, and pretty torquey. Still need to tune Accel enrich but that comes after the base VE table.

I have not taken a look at the AC compressor, but it seems locked up. I have another on my shelf, but it will involve venting my R12 left int he sytstem first. My debate is if i just go to R134A. I have enough R12 on my shelf to make it tempting to just sell it....

Sell the r12$$$ and get some ES12A( you will need 134a fittings) .I've run it in my 93 for about six years now and I can definitely say it works as good as the r12 and better then134a. First 110 degree day with it in my93 , after sitting outside , after work I turned it on and drove for five minutes on the hyway and got 36 degrees out the center vent.
