Now i just need a bellhousing. All that's holding me up. I could finish the entire 5-spd conversion in a day now.

For now i'll just clean everything up and have it ready to go and get my ATF set to go!

BTW, if you ever wanted to see the difference between an AOD crossmember and a T-5 crossmember, here ya go. T-5 is on top. Difference is just where the xmember is welded to the sides.

Mike, what do you do for work? You seem to have acess to a lot of cool tools and machines. Just wondering.

And I agree, a new flywheel is the way to go. You won't be sorry. And nice job on the progress. Looks good.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer in the field of research and development. We have a full blown CNC machine shop at my work along with pretty much every tool you could think of there. It comes in handy sometimes as i've taken my t-5 into work before to use the 20-ton press

I haven't investigated it further yet. I'm waiting til i have a bellhousing to bolt up and then bolt the starter in place. Then i'll see if i really have an issue.

I searched around and there was nothing on this issue at all. I'm using an OEM flywheel, and a Ford King Cobra clutch kit that came in a Ford box, so i find it hard ot beleive the starter really hits. I think it was just how i was holding it in my hand.

When i put it together, i'll check it again. I'll prob put some white chalk on the starter, bolt it up, turn the engine over and check and see if it hits.

Okay, so i went into the interior today to do a little work...mainly pull stuff out.

I yanked my carpet out as i wanted to powerwash and shampoo it and give it a nice cleaning. It's in great shape, so no reason to buy a new one.

I was also going to get some POR-15 for the interior floorboards, but to be honest it doesn't need it! Its already painted black and only has a few specs of very light surface rust here and there. I might hit them with some primer and leave as is

Here's my new project. Sagging headliner. Actually, it was sagging in the car, but came off completely when i took it out.

It was originally red, but since my black interior parts car was a non-sunroof car, i couldn't use the headliner. So i died my original black roof.

I guess 6 years or sitting caused it to finally let go.

Anyway, i saved the "skin" to trace a patten out of my new material. Unsure if i'll do something factory, or do something "different". I kinda like the soft feel of the non-sunroof cars vs the vinyl material ford put on Sunroof and T-top cars.

Maybe ill go suede

My week vacation from work is over, so back at the office on Monday. SO now i'll only be really working on the car on weekends unless i take a few more PTO days to get this done

Well, i may have to turn in my man card for this one.

I went to the local fabrics store today to pick up some black material for a new headliner. Well, when i got there, there were so many choices! They even had some nice material called "velveteen" that I kinda liked. Of course sitting on the rack it looked like a dress, but for a headliner it would be pretty nice.

Then they had a few patterns such as one that was black with small dark charcoal circles and then another that was black w/ grey zebra pattern.

Needless to say i did what any self-respecting man in a fabric store full of women would do.... I got samples and went home to think about it

i wouldnt sweat it, i did the same thing when redoing the interior on my 1989 f150, remember if its car related its always manly

Well, i'm gonna try this one out. I figure in a black interior with dark charcoal seats, it might match. Plus the sunroof headliner has such a small area of room it won't stick out much.

I just didn't want to go with a plain jane black fabric.

I've got my 3M super 90 adhesive ready. I just gotta wait for the rain to go away so i can do this outside.

Home Depot. It's 3M Super 90 spray adhesive. I did some googling for headliner recovering threads on the net and found a lot of guys recommending this stuff over the 3M Super 77. It's in the aisle with all the glues.

I was gonna stick with just a plain black until i saw some of the threads guys did (not in Mustangs). They were using simple patterns - nothing too crazy. At first i thought it might look bad but once installed with all the roof stuff back in place it didn't look too bad. It was different and subtle. I figured what the hell, why not. On a sunroof car there barely is any roof area at all, so it won't be that big. If it was a huge roof area like an SUV i would have just gone black. Plus it's up top, so nobody will ever notice it

If i did it in black, i was gonna glue a raised pony emblem onthe large area of the board and lay the fabric over that so it shows the outline of the raised pony. But in the end i didn't want to get carried away.

I'm not changing anything else in the interior though.

It doesn't look that bad actually. Wish I centered the waves to the interior light but oh well. I gotta do my final trim in the car so i can glue it to the sunroof hole. The distortion around the roof hole is the loose material i need to fold over.

Anyway back to real mods!!

I need to track down a SN95 non-ABS front driver's brake hard line

Plan for this weekend is to reinstall the cleaned carpet, install the *questionable* headliner, trim the hole for the shifter and install the boot and start putting the interior back togeher. I think i'm going to leave the dash off for now though.

I have another week off of work the week of Memorial day so i'm hoping to have a bunch of parts ready so i can finish the majority of stuff needed.

I have the fox one. I need the Sn95 line because i'm using an SN95 prop valve and that line goes directly to the prop valve with the correct size fitting and bends on it. The fox line goes up to the MC so i'd have to bend it and track down the unique fitting for it.

All i need is the bellhousing and the Sn95 brake line. I have pretty much everything else. I could easily have the car drivable in a week or two after getting those parts

EDIT: I do have some hardware needs though

Two top shorter bellhousing bolts
bolt that secures clutch fork dust cover
bolt that secures clutch cable to fram rail

i used about five washers on each bolt for mine. alternatively, there are things called hardware stores that sell what you need (7/16-14 threads). might as well get grade 8's while youre at it, and put all new ones in. should have all the other little bolts you need too. the sears up here had em for like 50-70 cents each.

I know, but i am the type of person that likes everything OEM if i can help it. ANd if it's not OEM, i want it reversible.

SO i'll actually spend the time to track down two real top bellhousing bolts rather than get some parts store grade bolts. Same with electrical. I'd rather go to a boneyard and snip male/female ends off another car and make a harness vs making irreversible changes.

Okay, i finally picked an LCA and ordered it along with all new LCA bolts.

SHould be here next week! Now i can reinstall my rear end!

that what i did on mine when i did the 3-2 port conversion and it worked great for me, but i dont live in the boonies so i got a crap load of places in walking distance i can get parts from
