This kirban is maybe 20 years old, so who knows what shape it is in. I don't smell gas, but I'll have to grab a small vac hand pump and test.

Pump needs to be changed regardless. It's 30 years old.

I definitely noticed this issue slightly a while ago, but now it's more prominent. If I got WOT the FP spikes to 39psi and then drops off even under full load to 30-34psi. Seems strange.

Regardless, new pump, filter and rebuild of regulator on tap. I figure I'll do a couple local drives to burn down gas and see if I can troubleshoot now. I can't even merge into the highway now as I just can't go WOT. It falls on its face.

I think I have a 190lph pump new in the box..... somewhere...... along with a kirban fuel pressure regulator.... also somewhere..... the pump is too small for my application so it was shelved. I can look tomorrow for it.

Thanks but I already have a walbro 190 pump on the shelf. Was in the plans to change that out regardless

Check out this crappy vid and let me know what you think.

3/4 throttle maybe, since the car is falling over when the pressure drops and I'd rather not push more. Quick blip does spike to 39psi. Also I'm watching the vac gauge as I'm going through 1st and 2nd and it's dropping to 0 vac. It's most evident in 1st in this video. You can just see the pressure fall off

hmm easy way to test is remove the vacuum line from the regulator... it should then stay solid at 39psi.
either way I think you are seeing fuel starvation.

I didn't think to try that when I had the car out this AM. I'll see if I can do it later after the kid and house projects are done

Pulled vac line. Solid at 42psi. I think I recall this is where I set it 15-20 years ago.

If I give it a healthy rev with vac off, FP drops off down 4-5 psi for each rev and recovers. I think normal behavior would be to stay where it is.

I think FP reg is fine, but pump is junk or some sort of blockage. The fuel lines and filter are all new with about 500 miles on them. Pump us original 88 lph from 1988. The check valve no longer works as well on the pump.

Guess I'm dropping a tank this fall. Curious to see what the inside of it looks like as this car did sit for 10 of the last 15 years. The filter could be clogged with junk from the tank

On another topic, I picked these up locally for cheap. Wanted one as wall art, but had to buy both. Picking the best one to "restore" and selling the other.

1920s split rim demountable wheels, with tires dated from the 30's-40's.

I have a thing for model Ts and really thinking I'd like to pick one up down the road.

Keeping the right one. Wearing a Mobil brand tire from before when Mobil oil was known as Socony-Vacuum. The tire is in mint condition and alone is probably worth $100+ to the right person.

I made this last year for our three season porch out of another rim

So not much going on really. Baby due in ~4 weeks and 1st wedding annIversary in 3 weeks. So I'm booked.

Spent the weekend on the Cape with the wife, and did some antiquing. Yes, I'm getting old.

Scenery was amazing. Unfortunately we had to deal with clouds and rain from TS Jose. 1850s lighthouse I got to take a peek up top in.

Cleared up on Sunday. Brought my photo drone with me, but the only areas with good visibility were no fly zones or way too windy.

Bird and seal sanctuary here. Frequent great white sightings too.

Mustangwise, new fuel pump, filter and fill neck grommet on the bench awaiting free time. I might get in 1-2 more drives, swap the 97 Cobra wheels on and call it a season

Also swapped out the trans harness. The AOD harness doesn't have the provision for the NGS on top of the t5. Since I'm going A9L mass air swap, I don't want a code 67 from not hooking it back up.

You can see the harness differences.

And interior back together and cleaned. Next up...drop fuel tank

So, oddly enough the sender is way off. Fill the tank and it points to F. Drain it to E, and well I pulled 4 gallons out of it after that.

Tank is siphoned as much as I can and outside venting off what remains. Inside is shiny and clean, so I don't want to replace the tank. Outside will need wire brush and paint.

Might need some additional hardware for fuel pump, I'll know more when I pull it apart.

Unsure if I should bother with sender. I haven't been below half a tank with this car in years. When I drive it, I usually stop to top off before going home. 2-4 gallons tops.

Pulled the sender and started cleaning tank. Some external surface rust but not too bad. TAnk completely empty and venting off in the yard.

I'm thinking por-15 here

Here is the problem. I can't get the lock ring for the pump off. It's soaking in on blaster now, but any attempt to spin in just ruins it. I'll Have to get a bit aggressive after I let the tank vent off for a day or two

Sender looks ok, other than some damage to the float. I may replace it, but to be honest not sure I have a problem. Tank, when F points to full, and when on E, I still have 4 gallons left. Good enough for me

@jrichker would you happen to have a table of resistance values to check my sender against?

Inside of the tank looks great, why I'd hate to scrap it.

Btw, is the baffle around the fuel pump supposed to be loose? This one can move around .

Googled and found people do use jb weld to fix these. How the hell do you get it on there? Not much access.

Well this might explain why my fuel pressure drops under acceleration.

This turned out interesting. Might just order up a new tank

First you thoroughly clean the tabs and mating surface with acetone. Then you put a dab of mixed JB Weld on each of the tabs . Let it set overnight. A couple of large super magnets can be used the hold the baffle in place until the JB Weld sets.
