Ok. Stalled a bit. The aftermarket door lock actuator sucks. It's weak and doesn't lock/unlock half the time. After the holidays I'll just track down an NOS unit.

Also having trouble finding a replacement window motor unit. Might just have to buy a fox mustang mirror and roll the dice that it works ok.

So, I threw the empty mirror housing in and bolted the door panel up. I'll revisit this in the spring.

Anyway. Ups delivered my package. I leave work early and rush home...

Wait??

What's this BS??

Apparently they have their internal bin sticker for the 85-86 kit on a 65-66 kit. So now I gotta ship this back and wait for the next one

If you can't tell, I'm eager to start work. All this stuff showed up today too

Hog rings and pliers, and new seat latch trims.

And since I need to use 5 staples to hold the seat carpet on...I needed a new staple gun

Going to work on this next. Run my MAF wiring and get it set to go.

Got two A9Ls over the years. Going to test both out and decide what to do with the spare.

@RaggedGT,
@karthief

It think this is a Stangnet resource, but if it isn't here' the link

Follow this link to fix your door lock actuator problems

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://get.adobe.com/reader/

http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/attachments/door-lock-actuator-fix-pdf.88290/

Stuck with door lock actuators that don't work and don't want to pay the $50+ for a new one? Tried the junkyard ones and found that they last six months and freeze up?

A new actuator for less than $8. Fix one side for $20, do both sides for only $28. I don't sell parts, I don’t make any money off of the upgrade, I just tell you how to do it cheaply and easily.

By the way, I am still using the same $4 actuators I bought in 2002 and this is the second Mustang I have installed them in! Beat that with your fancy replacements!

That’s just bad luck all the way around. Sorry for the PITA. If the proper covers look half as nice as the wrong ones do though, you’ll be in good shape.

I did check them out a bit. Very nice.

But they are sitting by my front door with return label waiting to go back.

As much as my purist side of me wants to spend $100+ on a NOS actuator, I'll give this a shot. Too much to spend on something not visible and seldom used.

Edit: although I really don't want to drill my door.

Got myself a new ignition and set of keys. Killed two birds with one stone. Wanted a new ignition key, and my cylinder was all scratched up and needed refinishing.

Was going to buy a LRS repro, but this oem Ford unit was same price. Google SW-1808

Also, sniped an NOS drivers mirror to add to the hoard pile. Still sealed

If you have small , strong and nimble fingers, you can do the job without drilling the door...

Lesson learned. If you are going to order an ignition switch module off eBay, make sure it's the correct revised module (SW-2474) and not one of the ones removed from service due to the recall.

Look at that gap right out of the box

Yeah, that eBay seller is probably not too happy I am returning it.

I checked mine tonight while installing my new ignition cylinder. It's actually one of the new F2 ones that was the replacement during the recall. Mine looks brand new, so going to leave it.

Oh and 30 years almost to the day my car was built...the original key gets retired. Those teeth were pretty worn out.

New key cylinder nice and tight and shiny black. One more new item

CJ pony parts should have my RMA delivered tomorrow. Hopefully its delivered early enough they can inspect, see their goof, and have the right interior kit shipped out on Fri afternoon. I don't want to wait til Monday. Im not going to believe I landed the kit for 50% off until it's sitting in my basement. Until then..I'm waiting anxiously

So Fun AM.

Heading to work and remote start the Taurus to warm it up. I hear it start. I get ready, walk out to car and it's off. Hmm. I get in and try to start and it cranks and cranks. Hmm.

Fortunately, I knew what it was. The fuel pump control modules on these are junk. ONLY the ecoboost models have a recall. The n/a engines don't apply to the recall.

Didn't even bother testing anything, I was that confident. I bum a ride to the local Ford dealer, pay $70 for a new module, and I'm back in business.

Module is located behind the rear seat back. I found one on eBay for $35 new and bought it as a spare....ironically from someone else who bought it as a spare until getting rid of the car.

I also put $1100 in new tires on the car the day before. This is turning out to be an expensive Dec and I'm not even done shopping for the wife

Nothing going on this weekend. Some holiday kids activities, getting our Xmas tree, and dealing with first snow of the season.

Once again, I am glad that I live in Middle Georgia. If I were to count up all the times in my life that I have seen snow, it would be less than than the number of my fingers and toes.
