I've got a Cougar question maybe you guys/gals could help me with. I ran out of parts to put in the Stang today so I decided to put the fornt windshield back in my 68 Cougar. UNFORTUNATELY, it's had a hairline crack that I didn't see that became a 1/12 scale copy of the Grand Canyon as I was installing it. Does anyone know if a 65 to 68 Stang window will work? I have a spare 66 window from a parts car but I don't want to "make" it fit. TIA

I doubt any windows from the 65-66's fit the 67-70 body. Ford made the whole body wider I believe. The Cougar wheelbase is longer too.

I am pretty sure 65-68 Mustang windshields are the same size. Avoid original 65 windshields, Starting in the 66 model year they used a better safety glass.

You could try asking vintageglass @ ppg.com
It would appear that this is exactly the kind of questions the email is for.

well i do know for sure that a 67-68 mustang windshield will work in a 68 cougar as does most of the other glass with the possible exception of the rear window, a coupe rear glass might work but i know for sure the 69-70 cougars used a different rear glass than the stang. also i know the 69/70 stang coupes and fastbacks used a different windshield, not sure if the same applies to the earlier models or not but i don't think so. just to be on the safe side i'd stick with a 67-68 coupe windshield for the coug, though.

Most of the gaskets I've gotten before for my 66 coupes said for 65 to 68 front glass. That's what prompted me to ask.

My FORD PARTS INTERCHANGE MANUAL by Paul A Herd says that the 68 Mustang and Cougar windshield are the same and the assigned number he gives them doesn't match any other windshield. It says that a 67 Cougar windshield will interchange with all 64 1/2 thru 67 Mustangs. I don't know how accurate that is but it seems like the 67 and 68 windshields would be the same since their bodies were the same.

The 68 windshield is listed seperately because the rear view mirror was glued on. The interchange book is a good guideline, but often parts will work that aren't supposed to according to the guide. A couple of examples : 69-70 Boss 302 front fenders, early 65 mustang (64 1/2) hoods, and Mustang SVO front fenders.
