Oh wait... check this out.

When you look at the image above for a few seconds, then refer to the original, you can still see the ring around the red dot.

Ok... I'm officially bored. I think I will take the dogs to go play in the snow.

Well....almost got the doors painted today. They are sanded, cleaned and in the paint booth. Everyone with keys had to leave by 6PM tonight, so no go on the painting. Monday morning early though.
If my wife doesn't give me too much trouble, I may do some welding underneath the car this weekend. If I get to, I'll post pictures of my ever improving welding skills and my car's torque box.
Anyone got experience with UPR's shipping procedures? I hope I get the reinforcements soon.

My wife is a school teacher, she had to go out with the other teachers this morning to hand out fliers for a bond issue, because we know the schools don't get nearly enough money.
So, since she had her thing to do, I went out and finished grinding my welds on the back seat patches. I put the rear on jack stands and dropped the springs. I was getting ready to take the differential out when she finally nabbed me to take her somewhere.
Hopefully tomorrow I will drop it out and clean up the underneath side of my welds and get some acid etch on them.
GAWD, I have a lot of cleaning to do before I can paint the inside and coat the bottom of the car. I guess I will be laying on my back tomorrow with a red scotchbrite and my air blower scrubbing the car.

Well, today was a decent day for Doby (Dirty Old B***h). I dropped the rear end out and took off the control arms.
I spent the next two hours cleaning the whole back end underneath side, my car is called Doby for a reason. I scrubbed with brushes and scotchbrites and then took a bucket of hot soapy water and started washing the underneath side.
Lots and lots of red Oklahoma dirt. I displaced at least four more mud dauber nests and several spider nests.
I had to stop twice to sweep the floor out so my creeper would keep rolling, jeez, a car wash before tear down might have been a smart thing, huh?
So, anyhow, here are pictures, how about those spring isolators?! I've ordered new prothane ones.
I'll be pulling out the old fuel and brake lines this week, you'll see the old ones in the photo.
I'm almost considering painting up to the transmission/driveshaft tunnel the same red as the outside. I'm trying to decide if the smell of the paint will offend my neighbors a bunch or not. I'll need to do it before I put the differential back in. Hummmmm.......
So now I just need to wait for the UPR reinforcement kit to get here and I will weld them in.

I agree with you, and I will probably be going that route. Maybe a little red over the undercoating? I can't do anything until I get the torque box plates in anyhow. Give my brain time to remember this isn't going to be a garage queen, it's Doby.

Something to think about.. I welded in maximum motorsports full length subframe conntectors and the paint was a real pain to deal with. Getting it cleaned up enough for a good weld, I mean. I spent a long time with a grinder and a wire wheel cussing under the car. If you plan on installing those, don't paint the mounting points until after they're in... Then paint the welded area.. My .02.

You're from Cedar Rapids? My family is originally from Iowa City. I haven't been back home since '85 though. I sure miss it.

I grew up in Plano, TX actually, but my parents are from NW Iowa, and they moved us back up to here the summer after my sophomore year of high school. I moved to Iowa City for college, and then settled in Cedar Rapids with my wife once she finished school at Mt Mercy. We had both already started careers here, so here we are. Like anywhere, there are pluses and minuses in my opinion, but I am yet to start liking IA winters. I'll take TX heat over Midwest cold any day of the week. Poor Mustang sits in the garage for half the year.

+1 for the winters. It's cold here at times in the winter, but take last weekend! It was above seventy and I had the garage door open working on my car. Hawkeyes were pretty dang entertaining this last season, huh?

Ah jeez! That must really suck. Who would want to live where you could drive whenever you want! Ok, so I'm a little jealous.....
I want to come out that way next year for a couple of the bigger mustang events(assuming I get my car done).

You bet, the Hawks had a good season in football, and are doing well in basketball as well. Actually just won two tickets to a home game from work today, 4th row behind the hawk bench. Day before my son's 6th b-day, so I'm going to take him down to it.
