I'm 53 now and not swayed by silly things that come along (at least not as much as I used to be!). Most of these ideas that are presented to me that I didn't have in my plans that I'm doing now are things I would have liked to do anyhow. I either didn't feel I had the capability or finances to complete those sub projects in a timely manner.
So I'm not whining.
Using Pink Floyd against me is a very effective tactic. Dark side of the moon was my personal rock and roll awakening. I was only ten when it came out, but how could a person listen to David Gilmour plays his guitar and not just stop to listen. I saw them in concert some 23-24 years ago. Best concert I ever attended.
Anywho....Thanks for the help man. If I can be of help to you on your paint job, let me know. I wish I could come out there to help. I used to have some very close friends in Hueytown. I spent news years eve there back in '87 doing very foolish things:cheers:.

Isn't this just the cutest little bondo kit?
My jobber gave it to me with another can of POR 15.
I'm going to mud up my engine bay this weekend.

Jeez, Mike! Wait till you hear the rest of the story of this car.
It was one of five actual pace car vipers used at the Daytona 500, I think the '95 race. The other four have been destroyed over the years. Lingenfelter built the five for the Daytona.
It has 30k original miles.
He got in a front end wreck and slightly damaged the hood. I think a good fiberglass man could easily fix it, but he's getting a whole new hood and bumper.
Due to the mods by lingenfelter, we can't get any more parts for it than that.
We are actually bringing a specialist from God knows where that specializes in these cars to do the frame pull.
This guy that owns it is a really nice guy, but must have money flowing out his butt.
Viper hoods are a pain in the ass, I will need to block that entire monster hood before I can even think of painting it (main reason I hate vipers). From the factory they are lumpier than my mother-in-law's thighs. The hoods are the largest I remember ever working on. Vette hoods are small by comparison.
Still, in the end, it is a cool car and the 335's are just awesome.

I got my associates in auto collision repair in 1990. I worked in various body shops in Des Moines, IA and Dallas,TX until 1994.

I went back to school for architectural graphics and have been working for a metal building company since 1997.

The last thing I painted was the back of my car black and my pony wheels black in 2000 when my friend had a shop.

I have been following the mini tub thread as well.

Back in 2011 I bought an '86 t-top while my '93 was in storage at my dad's in Colorado. I think that year was when it was 114 degrees in the summer time. With no ac it was a hot car to drive. I found some hidden front end damage and ended up selling it to purchase the other car in my signature.

I do still miss having that car though which is why I appreciate your build.

So you know body shop language then. Sometimes I may say things on posts that people may not understand, it's just normal talk to me.
You probably remember how it is in a shop, our language may be considered, uhm....robust?
Anyhow, nice to know some people that have been in the industry.

Yeah, it got to 115 a couple days that year and once the next year, it's a little tough to get paint to lay out at that temperature. The temp in my paint booth was 125. I was getting up at one in the morning to go to work just so I could get a few shot before it got too hot.
Positive side, I lost about ten pounds of baby fat and still didn't drip any sweat on any paint jobs!
I won't have air this coming summer, hope it's not a burner like it was then. Air conditioning will have to wait till I can afford it next wintertime. Maybe having the t-tops will help cool me off?

A/c is a must have. My son will learn that this summer. Haha.

Same here man. I'm lucky to get five hours at night. Naps, yeah. Good grief I am old. @madmike1157 will chime in soon calling me a snotnosed kid... Hahaha
