Build Thread My 1986 T-top Build - Lasting Memories

I have an older picture of Doby from the pre-primer/in bondo stage for those that are interested in it. This is quite some time ago....

I have to try to get a pre work picture. Got to find out if they exist.
Shouldn't this be in the "Paint & Body" thread? Lol

Ok, I'm up.

Who else? Anyone doing stuff on your cars today?

It's going to be sunny and in the eighties here today. In Downtown Tulsa there are various festivals going on this weekend, usually in Oklahoma if you want something to do to entertain yourself and your family, and there is nothing on TV, you maybe have a contest on who has the most earwax or maybe belly button lint......Could be considered a little boring. Now you know why Street Outlaws is out of OKC, those guys got tired of the belly button competition and realized they had cars.

So, I'm getting ready to go lay down under Doby and do some scrubbing in a few minutes here. The festivals don't kick off till about 11:00 to 12:00, so I have some time.

Do y'all realize how close I am to putting NEW parts on Doby?

In order for me to stay "in character", I gotta ask you...

It's obvious that the floors of your car have been replaced,...By your own self admission you are anal to a fault.
(After all,.....who in the hell strips all of the factory under coating out of a wheel tub, (A giant pain in the ass) just to turn around, and re apply more undercoating?))

You ok with that cut line being so obvious?......Just curious.

Cause after all,.......out of 100 mustangs most people ever see up this close,...I'll bet only one has the detail under the floors that compliment the stuff on top.

And.....

All it'll take our buddy Dave to change that, is a flap wheel and some judiciously applied filler.

I'm up, Dave. Finally. Slept in compliments of Skelaxin and Tramadol. Back is still not back. :(

I'm going to mosey out to the shop in a bit and continue where I left off two days ago changing plugs on the turbo car. Plugs are in, now I have 1.5 hours of re-installing piping and peripherals.

When my stroker goes in this thing (or windsor, don't know which yet) I definitely and going to re arrange hoses, hard lines, wires, and catch cans. Real estate is precious on this thing.

lol Mike, yeah, I'm ok with it.

I noticed the photo makes it stand out more. It's not that bad when you're looking at it. Besides, I'm doing this for me and not for some silly magazine. I'm fine with it, it's solid as hell and it won't allow any moisture inside.

Most people won't notice it, and those that do, it'll give us something to talk about.

Ah hell Mike! Get over the problems you had with the red car!

Maybe you just don't get how inspiring that build was to pukes like me. You did something very cool, accept it

Ok, doby's belly is scuffed. I had to weld up a couple places I've been meaning to for quite some time.

I got to mask now and start to spray the undercoating finally.

I think someone had pulled old Doby with this hole sometime in the past and ripped the sht out of it!
