Build Thread My 1986 T-top Build - Lasting Memories

That's what i have.. For some reason the instructions say DO NOT seal weld the ends, leave them open. Not sure why, but they have a reason, I'm sure. I left mine open.
Hummmmm.....

If there were other openings in it, I could see why not to. Then again, with the thickness of the steel, it would take a long, long time to rust.

Good looking kiddo, and grand kiddo. Grand kiddo seems to have your style! And hey, why didnt you weld on your torque box reinforcements? Dont let me pull a @RaggedGT and have you doing a bunch of extra work, but just seems they would be stronger welded up?
Easy killer, they are welded in the interior, just like the instructions suggest.

For the record- my only labor intensive suggestion was in fact the wheel tubs. So there :p
lol

Fair enough, just figured welding versus having your huge nuts hanging out for all to see might have been a more classy way to go. Carry on!
While I appreciate the comment about my huge nuts and might reply, "that's what she said", you are supposed to just weld the reinforcement plates and then you leave my nuts alone Nick!

I'm still trying to work with this local guy that might be able to help me out with a hatch and bumpers. He's been busy, I haven't been able to get the parts yet.

I'm hoping he'll follow through and let me come up this week sometime to get them. When (if) it happens, I'll post pictures of the parts along with me doing my happy dance.

If not, I'll post a picture of me crying in my beer.

Tell you what, one way or the other, I'll post a picture of me and beer. Just to be different, that is.

Anybody got a stray thought about QA1's adjustable uca's?

I think they look nice, and for those old enough to remember Billy Crystal's character, "it's better to look good, than to feel good".

I thought olives made your beer salty?
I've never used qa1 but I would go maximum motorsport. The price point in my eyes is negligible and you have decades of street and track support to back their product.

Thanks brother, upper control arms come to mind! I want to have a hiem/solid bushing on the body side. Adjustable is fairly important to me as well.

Does the hiem joint make things too noisy in your opinion? Seems the easiest way out of the binding issue that might take place.

There has got to be a life compromise on a heim solid end vs a rubber/poly end. Dirt/funk and various road related fungoo will get into the metal and loosen the contact surfaces via friction over time. (At least that's the way it has been for every ladder bar/four link bar I've ever taken off after driving the thing for a period of time on the street.) I'm certainly not against the better articulation, and the associated additional noise.......who gives a rat's red bunion hole?
