ite guys the time has begun to start on the 4v, actually im just too lazy to work on it.. so here be the specs!!

ported mach intake
acufab tb
intake spacer 1"
worked c heads/ported and milled/ coolant mod
the 99-01 cobra cams
stock rotating assembly/ gt crank/plasma moly rings
good oil pump/windage tray

should be around 10-6 to1 comp after its all over

and later ill add the L maf and long tubes and jlt pipe

how much you guys think she'll make? im thinking revving it to 6700-6800 as a shift point.. i would like to go 110mph n/a thats my goal this year with this engine..

I'd guess 300-310rwhp with stock cams and no LT's. What gears are you running? 300rwhp should be good for around 110mph in good air, with decent gearing and a little weight removed.

im thinking around 340whp with longtubes, im not saying its going to add 30 hp but, its gonna make more than 300 rwhp n/a.. with no longtubes... its a learning experience and im sure ill add to the list as i find things that can be improved..

im running a 4.10 gear, atm.. i think i might go with a eaton down the road now, so rods and pistons will be mandatory, so add those on lol.. cant hurt to just have em there anyways..

ive got everything out of the car less the heat and radio.. still has 4 seats as well, but trunk is gone, no a/c, bumpers, sway bar, dog bone, abs, airbags, some sound deadner, factory radio amp. the list goes on and on

Thats gonna net you 400 horses at the crank. Dont know what the driveline total loss will be but id put money on 400 at the crank. Get real 96 Cobra cams and you will pick up more HP. I dont mean new purchased Ford parts cams but cams that came out of a 96 engine. They are slightly different from the later cams and before companies started making nice aftermarket cams they were the little secret they used in the old N/A modular class. The one that actually posted HP numbers was making 417 at the crank. :nice:

just build a 2V:shrug:

i rev higher, and trap faster. and 2v's are way cheaper to build!

im beginning to hate 2vs really, i have a 125 kit going on it friday, but i know it wont meet my goals, fun? hell yes but i like boost better and a turbo 4v will really haul the mail!!

and ill have about 300 in this engine if i decide to not do rods and pistons to keep it n/a.. i got this as payment for work, so he had to really beat me up to take it :rlaugh:

yeah i know, the difference is only like 4 degrees on the intake, though between these and the 96-98's unless the 96 is more aggressive than the 97-98 if thats what your saying?

So you are thinking 340rwhp with the stock cams/manifolds?

So you want to go 4v to hit 110mph na? That's not a very good reason because you could do that with a 2v. Then you say boost the 4v, ok that would be fun if you were not 10.6.1 compression, on powdered rods. I pesonally would stay 2v and na but everyone is different.

The 96 cams were more agressive then the 97-98 cams. If you buy new then the part number is the same for replacement cams. Not sure what the spec difference was though. Only time I saw a pic of them side by side the only thing I could see is the 96 cam was much more rough between the lobes. The metal had allot of "junk" on it. I had assumed Ford wasnt happy with the finnishing of the cam and swapped manufacturers but really dont know.
But I do know the top guys in the modular class 5-6 years ago were using them in their C head cars.

No, I made the assumption it was with a full exhaust too. If the cams are timed right then the engine could do 400 with no problem.

Reinhart makes 471 with just slightly more agressive cams and some trick looking velosity stack style injection system.

no im trying to decide at the moment to build for boost down the road or just go with my stock compression with the milled heads, i know how you like 2vs and 98cobra281 is, but i like how they make power, plus i literally have nothing in this engine money wise and it should make 330-340 rwhp easily i think~ with well times cams and the full exhaust..

yeah i can find 96-98 cams all day long but i cannot confirm what year they are.

its amazing how cheap you can really build a 4v for, its stupid cheap if you dont go into the heads, and the heads already flow very well..

You shouldn't have any problem hitting that goal with that set up. My 04 Mach 1 with Bassani Mid Lengths, catted X, flowmasters and drop in K&N made 301RWHP and trapped 108.4 at full weight.
