I bought my dads mustang and really dont know much about cars but want to learn. I have a 302(thought at first it was a 289) . Paper(I thought was 15 years old. not:shrug: )says c4, b&m strip shift kit, 3500 b&m super hole shot conv, detroit locker 9" rear end, 4:86 gears, ss valves, crower roller rockers. Dad after clearing that up says something about the headers, but i dont know if they are good or not. They are edelbrock. I looked up the carb #'s and found it to be a holley 4010 w/600cfm. the intake manifold is a holley contender. Edelbrock on valve covers. I've been working on the front a little but the bumper seems low and to far out(w/new arms). I guess it's good enough for now. I did notice a lot of rust. This car was made into a dragster, probably in 80's. My dad bought it in 90. My questions are 1: What do I have HP wise and how high rpm can it go.(with these gears i'd like higher rpm's) 2: How do I tune the carb? So now I've ID'ed almost everything. I'm not sure what the difference is between heads and headers. I read a article Hot Rods 10 steps to power or something. Learning a little. Thanks for any help

All the hardware suggests a pretty high-RPM engine, the heads and the cam make the engine so it's impossible for anyone to tell without those specs.
Have you driven the car? You will probably find where it wants to operate driving it around a little, but with those rear gears you'd better take a wad of cash for gas.
