My aod wont shift out of first, but I adjusted the tv cable properly

Ok so I took my car out for a test drive after getting everything up and running properly, this is the car in my sig that i'm referring to. I've got an aftermarket torque converter, and supposedly the trans that I bought from this guy was rebuilt and has a shift kit in it. Before taking it out I used the middle bolt on the passenger side of the transmission to set the throttle valve to 0 psi in neutral. When I take it out I put it into the Overdrive selector and start driving, the rpms will jump upto 4-5K in no time and although it sounds like it should shift around then the shift never comes. I've never used a shift kit or aftermarket torque converter so idk how much they affect the shift points but if I remember my old stock mustang would shift to second round 2000-2500 rpms. Anybody who can help at all i'd appreciate it.

i believe your tv cable pressure at idle should be 5psi idle and when you have in any other geat it should be between 30-35psi if i remember correctly

Ok, you need to find a TV cable gauge tool. It's an OTC brand tool. It pulls the TV cable out a certain amount to help you set your TV pressure. It simulates a certain throttle position. Then you set it to about 32-35psi. As for the first gear problem, I would look at the governor to see if it is sticking.

Another suggestion, is to post your problem on ClickClickRacing.com, that site caters to the high perfoprmance Autos, especially the AOD, more than any site I've seen. They've helped me out a time or ten when I was having problems with mine. Very smart people there that KNOW autos.

The gauge tool, if you want to make your own, measures 0.276" on my dial caliper.

Pull the tailhousing off.
But, post on ClickClick first, it sounds like a sticking gov. problem to me, but I could be mistaken.
