For free?
Ford told me it was related to "a factory defect." It has a warranty, and with ~240 miles on it I would think so!
For free?
Well good deal. As far as worrying about a rebuild as long as they do a good job it should be the same as a new stock trans. Besides, what's you're other option, buy an aftermarket transmission?Ford told me it was related to "a factory defect." It has a warranty, and with ~240 miles on it I would think so!

After it's rebuilt all the "guts" should be new and just the casing will be "old." I know it stinks to have to have your transmisson rebuilt with only a few hundred miles on it or whatever the case might be but I think that's gonna be what you'll end up with. As long as it's fixed right you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between that one and a new one and it ought to last a good long while. If it breaks again before the warranty runs out take er back to them. If it breaks shortly after the warranty is out then that'll suck a fat one.Hope Ford will do the right thing and give me a brand new transmission for my brand new $37k+ car, since the damage occurred when it was under the dealership's care. Who knows what other damage was done in the process or how bad the wear is on the rest of the parts. Or even better, if Ford would like to buy my car back that would work (which will never happen).
I normally hate how your new car can spy and tattle on you, but if the info is still there, score one for big brother.
Ford should fix this anyway. You may need a second dealership.
I need to clarify what I would do with a second dealership. If you were as mad as I bet you had to be, dealership 1 wants nothing to do with you, (either from embarrassment or fear for their life.) Going to Dealership 2 will provide a chance to show how nice and reasonable you are, and that dealership 2 wants your future business. I would try to be seen as a really nice guy that needs their help to get my baby back together right.
You are probably expecting too much that they will buy your car back. If the tranny broke from a burnout, wouldn't it have done so eventually done so under your feet? You can bet the person who trashed your car is either fired or is on strike 2.5 and on a very short leash.
With a rebuild by a Ford tranny specialist, every part will be inspected, the updated parts will be installed, and it will be more carefully assembled than at the factory. Why do I think this? Because the dealership can stick Ford for the rebuild cost. It is in their interest to do it right and they will be paid to do so. At least that is how the GM dealership I worked for did it. The same mechanic also rebuilt alternators and starters himself so they did not have returns like on parts store volume rebuilt units.
The person still works there. True. This whole experience has been a nightmare for me. I'm not sure how this whole thing will turn out, it doesn't look good so far...
Or throw a birck through their window... He's probably already informed them about his discontent.Stick with the dealer you bought from and tell them everything, how you feel etc. Tell them it has been a complete nightmare, you aren't satisfied at all, feel you've been cheated, and you want to return the car and get a full refund. Start there and stick with it.
So yeah I'm with this guy. Same thing I was trying to get across earlier in the thread.I need to clarify what I would do with a second dealership. That sucks. You are not alone, I had mine 2 weeks and some 81/yo hit it. Going to the paint shop tomorrow for repairs. Difference is, I know the painter there so it will be done right. Sucks about the transmission. I would talk to your salesman about it. Tell him what happened and bring it up the chain until you are satisfied. The salesman has a vested interest; you bought a car from them once, so if they treat you right and take care of this, you will go back to them in the future, right? I know I would. If that doesn't work, take it up directly with Ford. Tell them what the dealership is doing to you and they will likely have you take it to a different dealership for an evaluation and possibly repairs.
That's what they all do.
No we haven’t, 15Mustang. Please let them test drive your vehicle and diagnose it. Then we can figure out what the concern you’re experiencing is. Let me know when you decide to bring it back in.Update 3/13: No resolution has been reached. There is def. a problem with the transmission, which should be fixed! Ford seems to have ended assistance?
