my buddy wants to spray his 96 GT, but....

my buddy wants to spray his 1996 GT mustang with 4.6 but he says it wont take it?? I ask if he had an adjustible timing gear and he said no. I told em he prolly would have to get one to be able to make it take the 125hp dry kit hes trying to get it to take.

Any ideas as to why it won't take it?? He says its laying down when he sprays? fuel pressure problems?? thanks for all replys

Depends on how he set it up, what kit it is, what other mods he has, etc.

Is the car holding fuel pressure when spraying, or is it dropping off?

ok, heres the deal, first off, waht kinda a miles does he have on his car, city, freeway, does he take really good care of it, second, what kit, bottle pressure, warmer??, jet size..... IM running 125 no probs and I have 120,000 miles all city, no fuel upgrades, nothing major, just a good tune and some TLC.... tell him to start with a smaller shot around 75-100 if and only if his car can handle it , jump up to 125 with a tune.

not sure on the miles on the car. ITs a dry system like a compucar system.......He keeps his car tuned. I'm thinking to much nitous for stock timing is the problem, any guesses?

Too much timing would result in detonation, which you would probably hear. If it's just laying over, it's probably lean, which could also lead to detonation. Again, back to my last post, is the fuel pressure holding up under spray? If not, the fuel pump or fuel filter is done. If the pressure does hold up but the car is still lean, either the injectors are too small (only on dry systems) or the tune incorrect.

i would look at a nitrous solinoid problem.. at 125 shot going lean would have probally been fatal too a stock bottom end.. i would look at nitrous flow first then go from there.
