Your right about that. I tried that trick when you cross the terminals at the starter solenoid to start the car and got nothing!
I just found my ignition switch in 3 pieces last night as well. Will this cut power to the hole car?

Update:
I removed all power cables and terminals and cleaned them to death. none of them were bad, it actually looks like its been done fairly recently.
I then whipped out the trusty test light and confirmed battery had juice and applied a fully charged booster pack to it as well. When checking for power at the starter solenoid there was power. I then moved into the passenger compartment with the test light and found the fuse block, ignition switch, and radio feeds all have no juice.
Anyone got any more ideas?

Go back to the battery side of the solenoid switch and test both sides of the fusible links on those problem circuits.
Put one lead of the test light on the negative battery post and then the other on the battery side of the starter solenoid.
No light and the battery cable is bad.
I recently had a battery cable break the wires inside up next to the battery post clamp.
It looked and felt solid, but the wires had separated from the battery post clamp inside the insulation.

PROBLEM FOUND!!!! I feel like an idiot! The whole time I ruled the battery out as a possibility because when I hooked the booster pack up to it the car still had no juice. Well I figured out tonite that the booster pack needs to be turned on!!!! When I turned it on the car fired right up. Oh boy. I feel dumb.
Am I the only one who has never used a booster pack that you have to turn on?

Same thing happened to me get a new battery your battery is shot even if u try n jump start it its still not gonna work.
this may sound crazy but i just had the same problem or something similar.
take the battery to the store and have them check it good.
the battery i was using said it had juce. but any thing will light up a light tester. just not enuff to do anything else.
I also tried jumping the car while it had thea bad battery and it didn't work either.
