Cleaned it up first. Like layers of grease and grime on it. Painted it blue cause it isnt exactly a new engine so im sure it will probably leak somewhere. Did all the conversion ****. dipstick, oil pan, and put a double roller timing chain and new gears.

just got to buy new water pump distributor power steering pump and carb. thinkin holley 600 cfm. anyone know of a good mallory distributor to put in a converted 5.0.

gonna paint the intake black. got it from the family friend along with the engine. some retard painted it like a sparkle chrome and painted over all the screw holes and the gasket surface and carb surface so i had to use a tap hazardous chemicals to get it to come off. along with a razor blade.

gonna by new valve covers 2. thinkin about those that say 302 powered by ford. this is about what it looked like before not the exact engine i forgot to take a picture of it. doesnt really show the amount of grease and how dirty it was when i got it.

agreed on the valve covers. they look cool. i was thinking about this for a air cleaner. http://www.gpfracing.com/ProdImages/M-9600-K302.jpg
not sure how good the oval ones are or if there special in any way. it will match the valve covers.

i got shorty headers 2.

it will be a while before i drop it in. it was a I6 so its a conversion process that im doing. i got it from my uncle who didnt want it anymore he gave to me a couple years back when i graduated high school. Its my first car that im building. I drive a 2000 mitsubishi glant and it doesnt really cut it as far as my need for speed goes and horse power goes. I wanted a muscle car ever since me and my buddy would go to lunch in high school in his 70 chevelle with a 350. he would put the pedal down and thats when i was decided i want a car that can do that. Im probably gonna redo the front and rear suspension in the next couple months or so. i got a rear end from another family friend. its an 8 inch out of a 68 ranchero. just need a transmission. lookin for a tremec or a t-5 or maybe a toploader if i happen to come across one. i want a stick. i cant wait till i can drive like a dickhead.

My car was originally an I6 too. My Dad and I converted it.

Thats a good looking air cleaner. I considered it but I don't think an oval air cleaner will clear my distributor.

I have JBA mid length headers. I have the Tremec T5 the Summit and Jegs sells.

Im doing the same thing with a 87 5.0 I picked up. Right now Im doing a leakdown and a compression test to see if I need to rebuild it before installing the engine. Did you hear yours run? I didn't so Im on the fence on how much I want to do. Im debating on carburetor or EFI also. Your engine looks great painted up. Here is some pics of the engine I picked up. Im getting a lower than expected lead down on my tests on the cylinders. So Im going to try a compression test just to see what kind of #s the engine pulls.

thats basically mine looked like when i bought it. I was on a stand and covered in grease. it didnt have headers but it had a flex plate. apparently it was a turn key. i dont think the guy would have lied to me cause he was best friends with my dad and uncles back in the day. i had pulled the ban and manifold and it looked good inside, no rust. the cam had some wear but i think it will be fine. im gonna finish the car then go back and buy a rebuild kit for it. then once i have all the parts for it im gonna pull the engine and rebuild it. mine was out of a 91 Tbird

So how many miles did your engines have on them? I have a 91 Fox Mustang 5.0 with 168,000 miles on it. The engine was good but starting to act a little jittery, it needed new O2 sensor and a fuel pump. I am thinking of cleaning it up like you guys to get my classic back on the road.....hmmmm

does early oil pan fit late timing cover or did you have to switch timing cover, if so does all the late model brackets mount to old cover,

na you dont need none of that. everything is the same. you might want to buy a new one if you dont want to drill a hole for a new dipstick and if you want to run a mechanical fuel pump cause there is no spot for it on a modern 5.0

thanks, I knew would need electric pump, trying to decide if I want to build 68 block that i have or change to later roller block. either way I want to use late model serp belt set-up and ac unit..
