but i get what your all saying and i had a talk with him. and he told me the same things as you are telling me. he don't want to see my wrapped around a pole or anything.

but he did tell me that if i show him i can drive for a year without getting in any kind of trouble with the car that when im 17 i can buy a mustang with a V8 or he will help me swap a V8 in.

so im good now. thanks though for putting up with me. ill shut up now.

If you're 14, you don't even own a car - your folks do. You don't legally own a car or anything else till you're 18. Not the shirt on your back, not your MP3 player, nothing.

My son is 14 and he's starting to bug me about selling him my Capri.

Dude, dont get bent out of shape.. Despite how you feel, your parents are just looking out for your general safety and well being.. Drive your car the way it is for a year or two and show them that you are responsible with it and then maybe you will be able to get the car you want. I started out with a 4 cyl 89 hatch, that thing couldnt even get out of its own way, and I even wrecked it 4 hours after I got it! The roads were wet, went into a turn a little too fast and the back end slid out and I took out a fence and a rock. Over the next few years I showed my Dad I was responsible and he let me get progressivly faster cars, for example: 1st car 89 4cyl, next car 89 5.0 GT with H/C/I, made over 200 passes down the 1/4 mile in that car, I think that was the car my Dad finally knew that I had a good head between my shoulders and I wasnt out acting like a clown on the road, next vehicle 93 GSXR 750, next 96 Cobra, next 500+ rwhp 91 convertible, H/C/I and LOTS of nitrous, and the one that took the most convincing to even let me have it on his property the 06 GSXR 1000.. Just let time do its thing and before you know it, youll have the car of your dreams!

This isnt a shot at the kid or anything, but is any one else in here reading his posts and getting a little concerned that our scholls cant even teach kids the national language and how to use it, and they want to try and teach em a foreign language at the same time? Maybe Im just a little touchy cause my wife and I are trying to have our first child.

Correct.. Just give it time and they will trust you! But on the other hand, when you get the car you want dont go smash it up or get a nice fat ticket.. Their trust would go right down the toilet, and then you're back to square one.. Good Luck young one

Sarcasim can be left out buddy. I was merely making a little point. Just because he doesn't sound intelligent to you on an online forum says very little about real life. Generally, people do NOT speak correct english when they are just hanging out with friends and etc. This isn't a school paper he is trying to write, therefore he is just rambling his thoughts together and hitting *post* without really caring to proof read. When you combine this with the basic internet slang. IE lol, omg, sammich, etc... the level of intelligent writting drops even more.

EDIT: And yes, I do generally agree with you that school systems are lacking. I myself have seen first hand the effects of the government cutting academic budget and flaws in the new *no child left behind* action.
