my doors never came with speakers, or holes for them, can i install some?

alright guys my car seems to be rare in that there are no door speakers or holes in my panel for the speakers, can i fit 5.25 component speakers in there, what would i need to do, do you think i am looking in the wrong place on the sheetmetal on the door and not seeing the speaker hole, i just know that there isnt a hole, but maybe i am looking in the wrong place. i want to install some door speakers.

my other less desired option is to put some speakers in my dash, the guy from ultimate said that i had 3 inch speakers could i fit some 5.25's in there? what would i need to do. also i need to know fairly soon thanks guys

what year mustang do you have?? as far as i know all fox mustangs came with speaker cut outs in the door. and the speakers in the dash are 3.5". i'm not positive but i don't think that you could put a 5.25" speaker in that 3.5" speaker hole......MAYBE with alot of fabbing.

i have an 86 lx hatch, it seems like i dont have holes for speakers, maybe im wrong, but it doesnt look like it. maybe but i dont know

i dont know how to put pics on here, the resolution is always way to much and it says the file is too big and it is set at minimum resolution on my camera

I think that the hole is in the metal behind the door panel, but you'll have to cut your door panel and use the grills that come with your speakers to make it look good. Either that, or you could drill holes in the back side of the panel, but not through the carpet. Then it will still look bone stock. In fact, that was how the door panels were on some of them, just can't remember exactly which ones.

You are correct, Fox body Mustangs had no speaker locations in the doors until 1987. In a 1986 model with power windows, one can fit a 5.25 inch speaker in the VERY front lower part of the door. It's tight, but it will certainly go. Your salesperson at Ultimate was right in speculating that a 3.5 inch is the stock dash speaker size. I'd put a 5.25 inch convertible speaker in the door that had GREAT off-axis response, like an MB Quart Reference or Premium speaker set. You could certainly try the tweeters both ways -- coaxially mounted or mounted in the stock dash locations. Don't be afraid to try the tweeters in and out of phase in order to get the best sound.

so a 5.25 will absolutely go? have you done this before?if so any pics, so if i were to mount them it would not interfere with anything behind. but you are absolutely sure, what should i cut the metal with, is it safe, i hope that this would work, should i go with components instead of the tweeter and the speaker? which one would be better? any ideas. i really want this to work, please give as much advice as possible? a guy at ultimate said he could do it for 75, and that included installing both the components, running the wires, and the cutting for both sides? does this sound good or should i do it myself?
