My dream of boost has come to an end

I gave up on my turbo project. Last night after work I took all of the stuff off and put my LT's back on. There was too many problems going on. My car would barely run, hesitate horribly, oil was everywhere under my car from something, tire was rubbing the turbo outlet pipes, couldnt get the pipes to connect to my TB, couldnt run my intercoolers, smoked badly, and a few other things I'm probably forgetting. I'm selling all of my turbo stuff so shoot me a PM if you're intrested and I'll give you a price.

After about 2 months of my car being like that I finally decided to cut it off and forget about the turbos. A lot of time went into this project which makes me sad but I learned a lot while I was at it. But for now I'm staying away from boost and going to start another project once I get the money for it. You'll just have to wait to find out what it is because I'm keeping this one quiet except for the people I'm getting information from

wytstang, I was about ready to cry after spending 4.5 hours taking all the stuff off and putting my LT's back on after all the work I had gone through, but when I started the car up and heard what it used to sound like, 25% of that feeling instantly left, then when I started backing up 15% more left, then when I finally got to get on the throttle the last 60% of my bad feeling had completly left me for good. I couldnt even spin the tired on a slick wet road powerbreaking in 1st gear... That was just sad. I swear my car feels like a high 12 right now.

Yeah I was hoping to see some crazy numbers with the turbos, but I definitely couldn't rig a setup myself(I wanted to but caved and threw the s/c on).Its alot of work from what I've seen and obviously frusterating.

Oh well, I'm sure you got something up your sleeve.

If you're current combo is starting to feel 'slow' consider a custom cam and some nitrous I just sold my nitrous, I rarely used it, but it did feel good the few times I actually used it. It was an NOS 5115 dry, 100 shot.

O well, those problems were probably simple vacuum issues or something to do with fuel delivery. It's always something simple that you overlooked, sucks that your giving up the project. Woulda been nice to have another boosted car on the road . And the pipes rubbing and such is easy to fix....get someone to custom fabricate you new pipes. It's cheap and you get what you want. That's what my buddy did with his '95 240sx sr20det swap. Please don't flame me for having an import, just here to talk with peeps and possibly help out and learn more.

Nice try there dude...biggest prob with fab work is TIME....I think your better off to take the car off the road, plan on taking 6 months or more to do it up, work the bugs out, and then work more bugs out....We have a tendency to wanna get it up and running in no time...
Fabbing stuff don't work that way....look at me...i thought my car would get a full monty paint job in 2 weeks...NOT...try 2 months....Were always in a rush to get it done...we wanna be driving the freakin things...

HMMMM...a single turbo....my son would get off fabbing that....

My hat goes off to you for trying... Theres quite a leaning curve to tackling a job like you did...you learn and burn at the same time...thats not easy and can be discouraging...Oh Well...next project please....least your an optimist...

Sorry to hear it. Even with mine being specifically built for my car it was a PITA. I could only imagine building from scratch. I would not have had the patience for that job. And to think, I thought by now I would have a Turbo buddy.

Aint that the truth Andy I started thinking it wouldnt be that hard and be finished in a week or two but didnt work out that way. Since the car was my daily driver I rushed a few things which probably did it in for me because I NEEDED a car to drive to work.

RX7... It wasnt something simple like fuel pressure, vaccume lines... It was way more complicated than that because I had played around with my FP forever and nothing.

Grn92LX, my current combo feels a million times faster than what it has for the past two months... It should hold me over until I get my next project done or pick Pete up on his offer which would be cheaper.

RC, dont think you're off that easy We're still going to race one of these days and it WILL be at the track.
