ok I have some ported gt40p's ported my myself, the exhaust I worked over alot, and the intake has been bowl ported, along with the exhaust, its soon to get good springs, an x cam, and Im thinking of a trickflow r intake the 75mm unit, I know these should work well together, and if they dont ill get some tw heads or patriots or something like that to complete the combo. But how fast have people been on ported and worked p heads? Ive had these before on a stockish 5.0 p head/b cam/ and a t-moss intake with all the bolt ons.

could this work well? The p head/r intake/x cam with all the bolt ons?

thanks josh

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

UNported 40Ps with a good VJ and springs, rockers, stock cam, stock bottem end, cobra intake, 70mm TB, 76mm MAF, pulleys, shorties, Prochamber, catback, 3.55s, in a lightish street car that gets mid to higher 20 mpg...

12.17 @ 110

In our dads old race chassis with 4.30s, injectors, and a slightly better bottem end...

7.481 @ 90 (in the 1/8th shifting 4th maybe 100-200 feet before the stripe, so maybe an 11.7 pass?)

cauley: come over and ill show ya, these heads make my thumpers look like a 2 stroke head lol.

25th: I still dont know how you guys do this with stock cams!! I know your degreeing the thing, but are you advancing it or retarding it? I know that if you advance it to 2-4* it will pick up some, but I guess I dont get it? I dont get how you can make so much power with a stock cam.... more like RUN so well with a stock cam...

geez, ill have to try that one day..... lol

It was retarded 4 degrees on my dads race car, and now 2 on the street car. The 40Ps always seemed to run strong, and we have a half dozen friends with GT40P cars running 12.3s and faster. All with stock cams, and very very similar mods. Ours at the end of the last year with the race car seemed to be a bit faster (always went 112 mph, and 12.0xs in the heat, where everyone else went 12.2-12.4s). Never snagged the 11.xx but got screwed on the last race of the season where it went solid 7.48-7.49s with me driving it which were 11 second runs, but the track was shortened to 1/8th mile due to huge winds.

A solid GT40P combo is an easy middle 12s car, with good parts and hard driving low 12s arent that tough. With all the right junk 11s should and can happen.

Yes longer pushrods and 1.7s. N-41 is made for 1.6. It is a small base circle cam. That way you can put it in a 351w block and use all the 5.0 roller parts to make it roller. 65mm t-body, junkyard 70mm mass air out of a t-bird,moroso cold air, pulleys. 3.73's. The combo was put together out of parts that where layin in the garage.

Just got my p headed combo together. Ran a 12.53 at 104mph with a 1.66 60 ft
Worst 60 ft of the day..... best was a 1.58

This was with the mufflers off which hurt my mph big time.

Also I am still running the stock intake. (cant wait to change it)

Combo:
mild ported gt40p
Afm n4 cam .512 " 222 int 230 exh on a 110 lsa
stock intake:notnice:
bbk long tubes 1-5/8
bbk h pipe
4.10

P heads are pretty stout heads for being a stock production head. It's the norm around here for guys to run deep in the 12s with the right parts along with them. Yours being ported, it really just depends on how effective your port work is on how much better you'll run.
