I have a performer on my car and smog is due. I'm hoping that since I have the receipt showing that I bought it while it was legal that it passes. If not, I guess that I'm buying a new intake. Total bs....
I ran into something similar several years ago. Was trying to get a Mustang through a smog test, I had the emissions test requirements from the state in a printed manual. (before computers lol) The car was a 72 Mustang with a 302 4bbl. The car was not 25 years old yet, so it still had to pass smog. I adjust carb, timing, make sure all of the egr stuff works, I had a 4 gas analyzer so I made sure the car was up to spec based on the standards that were in the manual, and set off for the test station. It fails..........it passed the standards in the manual, but the "new" standards from the state had just come out and now it failed badly. I asked the guy at the test station, how they could change the standards to be twice as stringent as when the car was produced. I mean, the car was designed to meet standards for 1972, and here you (the state) just changed them to something the car was not designed to pass. The state goon replied that "we are the DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) we can do what we want". Try working around that attitude, geeeeezus!
