05 GT Mods:
K&N FIPK 2
Magnapack muffs
3:73 gears
Diablo tune

Mine:
X pipe
2 Chamber flows

Well he's anxious to race me and wants to bet $100 on this . How do you think I will fair? I think he might eat me right from the start.

What kind of gearing are you running? I am not sure, but doesn't your 4v have a little more torque than his 3v? I probably wouldn't bet on the race if I were you, but I think you have a pretty good chance of beating him.

the 3.73s are not much of an advantage over the stock 3.55s. they do help, but not that much more than the stockers, so i dont think they will have a big effect on the outcome compared to your 3.55s.

the K&N CAI is limiting power, compared to most other CAIs for the S197 (C&L, JLT, etc) probably just a few ponies, but nonetheless, not a huge power maker.

the muffler is probably not adding any power either. the stock mufflers are not realy a restriction.

overall, i would think it would be near 290-300rwhp, give or take a few ponies.

good race for the both of you, but like others said before, i would not bet on the outcome. let us know what happens at the track.

well your car's a bit lighter, so off the line that helps, but his 3.73's help a lot off the line too. The new 3V's w/ gears really put it down. It might depend on how many miles your car has cuz his is pretty much new. I'd bet my money on him maybe but your bringing up the ass strong in the end

those mods will not get the 05 to 290rwhp. that takes all of the bolt-ons.

LT,tune CAI,high flow cats,'x' pipe, mufflers, pullies, t-stadt. the reason it will be close is the VCT in the 05 will keep it that way. stock 05 runs 13.5-13.7 stock mach 13.4 - 13.5. they both make 270 rwhp with a tune. i think it will be dead even at the line with the mach catching the 05. MAYBE!!!. the 05 will rev to 6200 also and make power there with a tune.

Big question is... auto or manual Mach 1?? With 3.55 in the Mach and with the GT crank and thus early shifting, the auto is nowhere near as fast. If I were you, I'd get 4.10s installed, then race. $100 off the price of the gears!

The other way to totally win is to buy some decent tires. If hes on stockers and you have some nice tires, youll murder him off the line.

327.....

If you were both stock for stock down to the filter it would still be close......Tires are your best bet....borrow a set of DR's that will set things in your favor!

i disagree. i may have been a little optimistic on my guestimate for this scenario, but "all of the bolt-ons" will make much more than 300rwhp. many people are putting down 310+ with just bolt-ons. 265 rwhp dyno sheets have been posted several times for a stock S197 GT.

I agree. I've seen dyno sheets for '05+ that are in the low-mid 270's stock, and the Machs in the high 270's-low 280's. A CAI and tuner with it should gain 10RWHP at least for the '05. A complete exhaust with headers and the '05 would be over 300RWHP easily.

I think you'll take him. He'll pull at first but I think you'll reel him in before the end of the 1/4.
