My new 331 is hard to start when it's warm, is it the tune??

Well in still running the temp tune chip from steve@ powertrain dynamics, the car starts and idles ok when it's cold but as soon as i drive it for awhile and turn it off i have to crank it a few times before it fires up, then i have to play with the thottle to get going but once i hit the corner it will idle ok again, are these just glitches with the temp tune?? Mods are in sig. plus i have a fox throttle body conversion with the TPS voltage at .93

sounds like the temp tune might be dumping to much fuel. it sounds like its flooding out and thats why you have to crank it for a while and open the throttle blade. by opening the throttle this adds more air and will help "dilute" all the fuel.

Humm so i should live with it until next week when it goes to the dyno...does it hurt anything to drive it like that??

doubt it. if you had a wide band you could check your A/F ratio. but its defenitly better to be running rich than lean. if its getting dyno tuned i think you should be alright.

Since you've went no farther than 24's it is doubtful your too fat during crank
and first fire up because of the larger inj.

Has it always done this.

You can kill the flow from the inj's during startup if you keep the pedal to the
floor while cranking.

Mine does the same thing.... I plan to mention it to Don when I have another chip burned.

It's like I HAVE to open the T/B to let the beast breath. I have the T/B idle screw adjusted about as far as I can go... but it's still not enough.

I've been wondering about the "drilling a hole in the butterfly" mod some guys do. But it's a brand new T/B... I would have a hard time trying that one.

Crank start fuel - start cutting 140 deg-250 deg by 10% burn with my 42's i run about 180 or 200 for the value

Crank AIC - set to .999 from .6-.8 stock settings lets it breath more when cranking over.

Its the tune fixed mine in 5 min

That's very easy to fix, but you never know how far to take it in the tune. Take it too far and it'll not want to start because it is too lean. Sometimes when we are tuning a car on the dyno, it takes 4-5 reburn to fix it. Some combos are really sensitive to this for some reason.

Thanks don, so would you say it's ok to drive it like that for another week? it's not hurting anything is it??

I've seen this kind of thing with 30's and larger

Never seen it with 24's

I'm certainly not gonna second guess Don
