The cam ,lifters and timing set are supposed to be here Friday, going to take the block in tomorrow to hone the cylinders to match the new pistons ,may get the bottom end assembled by the week end .

These were brand new ford adjustable rockers ,they now have about 1,000. Miles on them and still look new . The shafts have to be turned a certain direction for oiling so I will take them apart and clean them and make sure the oil holes point the right direction . 4 bolts hold them down but one bolt is different than the others ,it is the bolt that goes into the oil passage in the head ,this one has to go there for propper oiling of the rockers and shafts .

Took everything in this morning to have the block honed for the new pistons and balanced ,was actually going to give the shop that screwed Nicks motor up so bad another chance but went by and they are shut down ,probably good as well . Wound up taking the 45 minute one way drive to RPM in Tulare ,these guys know what they are doing . Like to have it back for the weekend but they are very busy.

I was just digging through my parts stash and came across the alternator brackets for a 69 CJ and although the are dirty ,a set of new old stock complete 428 motor mounts ,I had the ford box but it crumbled a long time ago .
Somewhere around here I have the pullie set and a CJ fan ,I just have to look for it!

Little cleaning and the motor mounts are good as new ,I am going to paint them black ,they will rust anyway
Got the CJ windage tray cleaned up ,a few dings from being tossed around for a few years but its still good !

Pulled the valves from the dirty set of CJ heads ,they are toast so it looks like I will be using my clean set after all . Funds are a bit to tight to completely rebuild a set of heads right now .

You want to see somthing stupid that actually looks like it will work ,and work good!
I needed to remove a lot of metal on my intake to gasket match it with the heads. Now you know those burs work but they are a pain in the butt! I got to thinking ,I wonder if one of those mini belt sanders would do o it ? Answer is yes ,and in a fraction of the time that bur bit would take ! It reaches way down in there and it blends the port as you go!
I still have to finish all the corners but the hard part is done and nice and blended !

I can get it cleaner than this when I hit it with a finer sanding roll but it blended way back In the ports and opened up nicely

The intake is done ,cleaned and ready to go .I removed a lot of metal on those ports just to gasket match . The heads will take at least a couple of days , maybe more!

Interesting fact...NASCAR ran the factory shafts and rockers up to 9000rpm.

The exhaust ports need the floor lowered about 3/16 to match the gaskets sides just need a touch ,the roof is right on but needs a clean up . Driver side doesn't take long . It's the intake side that will be a pain in the butt!

Nice work! The floors of the ports aren't so important. Airflow through the ports is at the roof and sides. Be careful when bell mouthing the port exits. You don't want to slow down port velocity. Then again, these suggestions are for all out performance.

My cam and lifters made it so did my true roller gear set ,my molly rings were not in the box even though it shows 3 items on packing slip . It's getting where I am afraid to order anything any more !

This is friggen nuts ,why would someone cut open the box ,take a ring set but not the cam and lifters or the gear set ,then reseal it with clear packing tape ? You can see the tan tape was cut so someone wanted in the box for some reason ! It had to be done by fedex !
Good news is Jegs is sending another set of rings ,he agreed the box had been cut open .

I'll put my money on a garbage delivery driver. With today's powder the bottom and change the diaper thought process, it seems like there's more and more people around that don't deserve to breathe my air.
