My Quest in buying parts online.
I thought I would vent on my quest to buy a Mac Pro Chamber O/R mid pipe for long tube headers. And I'm not new at buying auto parts online.

Nov. 1st 2005:
I searched online for the best price for a Mac Pro Chamber O/R mid pipe for long tube headers. I also posted on stangnet asking members for the best price and place to buy. Well everyone said that right here at stangnet Pro3I had the best prices and good shipping. I placed an order over the phone so that I would know that they had them in stock at $214.
The order was placed on Nov. 1st at 10:53 am and they said it would arrive in 5 business days on UPS.

Nov. 10th 2005:
When I did not receive my shipment by Nov. 10th (waited because of the weekend) I called Pro3I and inquired about my order and was told that they were on back order from Mac. When I first placed my order (on the phone Nov. 1st) I made sure I asked if they had them in stock and they did say they had one on the shelf. He put me on hold and called Mac to see when they could ship one. He told me that Mac was in the process of building more and would ship me one within 2 weeks.:bang:

Dec. 15th
I called and emailed Pro3I and was told that Mac had not finished them yet and would ship ASAP.

Mar 30th
Searching the internet I found that Proficient Performance had some for $179 with free shipping. I called them and asked if they had one in stock and told them I had been waiting for one sense Nov 1st from Pro3I. They said they did not have one in stock but he put me on hold and called Mac and asked if they had any. Mac told him they have had them done as of Nov 15th and would ship me one ASAP.
Pro3I has not called me or emailed me. Nothing, nada, zilch. They even lied to me when they said Mac didn’t have any! :nono:
Mac has had them in stock as of Nov.15th

April 5th
I received my Mac Pro Chamber O/R mid pipe for long tube headers from UPS on my doorstep and the box was ripped and the nuts and studs were missing the flange on one side where the headers bolt up was smashed. I called UPS and filed a claim and I also called Proficient Performance to let them know what happened.:bang: :bang: :bang:

April 8th
UPS finely called and about my claim and said they would get hold of Proficient Performance and fix the problem.

April 20th
I received from Proficient Performance 4 studs and 8 nuts. I called Proficient Performance and they said the best thing to do will be to have an exhaust shop fix the pipe and send the bill to them and they will take care of the UPS claim. So after work today I will go and have it fixed and maybe by next week I will get to put my new Mac long tube headers and Mac Pro chamber O/R pipe on.:nice:

Sorry fellow Stangers I just had to vent.
Anyone else have problems like this with buying parts.

As for Pro3I:dead: :dead: :flame: :flame: :uzi: :uzi:

I've also done a lot of mail order buying for my car and most of it went pretty well. Sounds like you had a really bad experience with Pro3i and I hope you got your money back and he gets what's coming to him. It's good you posted to let others know what they might expect from that vendor.

I had a bad experience with BBK parts that I bought that were defective (poor quality control) and exacerbated by poor customer service. In hindsight I should have gone back to the merchant but thought it would be better and faster to deal directly with the manufacturer. In any event I won't buy BBK products anymore.

I had another experience with tools I ordered from Harbor Freight last August. When the box arrived, it was full of fitness stuff that HF didn't sell despite being labelled as coming from HF. Try explaining that one to the $6/hour customer service lady. They told me to take the box to the carrier (UPS). UPS and HF both had to investigate (finger-point). In October, HF said they would re-ship my order. By X-mas everything came but one item--a set of metrix hex sockets. This whole time I would call every 30 days or so and get a promise that the matter would be resolved. The end of Feb I called again and was told the sockets would be shipped that week. The middle of March I got a refund check. Ticked me off that I waited all that time, spent hours on the phone trying to straighten out the mess and I never got the sockets.

The other side of the coin is how Jegs dealt with me. Tuesday of this week I ordered a bunch of parts from Jegs, including some Mallory fuel rails. They were supposed to come with all the hardware but it was missing. Thursday I called Jegs and they checked to make sure the hardware was part of the package and said they would ship it out to me. That's the way to treat your customers--I'm inconvenienced a little but I don't mind because they made it right.

I always let eveyone know who I deal with and the great service I get. Luckily, I've encountered very few problems over the yeas but when they did come up they were delt with quickly. I would not have had the patients that you did in waiting that long!

I got my wheels from this site and everything went beautifully. That sucks that you had a problem. I've generally had good luck ordering online (which I do as little as possible). Only problem I've encountered was with Saleen, which took long enough (just under a year) to ship my taillight covers that I had forgotten that I had even ordered them, but then when I finally got them it was a nice suprise.

Same here .... Pro3I came through with a great deal (and quickly) on my wheels. I've never really had a problem ordering online. Thanks to StangNet .... I've been guided in the right directions as far as companies that are reputable.

Sounds like the real problem was with MAC. You think maybe MAC was feeding Pro3I a line of crap ... and in turn it went to you? I don't see why they would hold back on you once they got the part in .....

I to will always let eveyone know who I deal with and the great service I get and where to get the best prices.

I don't know what was up with Pro3I I have used them in the past and everything was good. But this time I think I got a line of chit from the guy on the phone. I got one email from them and I had to call them. Not very good service.

I will call them on Monday and cancel my order.

I must say Proficient Performance called me everyday or emailed me to let me know what was going on with my order.
UPS sucks the driver knew it was damaged and didn't say anything he just left it on the porch. I found one of the missing studs in my freaking grass when I mowed the lawn and the mower spit it out:bang:

Here are some great companys I have delt with.
