My Quest for a 10 second pass.

Man, I dunno, I think ratchet shifted AT cars are badass so long as its fast enough to justify it. Mid-to-low tens on spray is justifiable. The only problem I see is that when you're not juicing it, you might wish you still had the stick, especially if you are up in the air about it right now.

Do you ever have plans on going 9s with that car? If you plan on a lot of spray, I can see it happening.

Now granted I have personally only been 10.000 @ 135 in a stick shifted car, but I can assure you, the right tranny makes all the difference. Same car has since gone 9.88 @ 136.

I have driven a proshifted T5, and now my dads Jericho. Both trannys shifted like cake and missing a gear wasn't really possible.

That TKO is faceplated correct? I'm not sure exactly how close faceplating and proshifting are but if it is anything like our old T5, don't worry about it. Spraying it will be fine, you won't miss gears, and it will run like a raped ape!

Yes, that was a faceplated trans, and yea it is cake, its awesome to shift, im not worried about missing a gear as much as the car actually hooking up on the spray. I dunno, i think im gonna go back to atco though, i need this monkey off my back

well i gotta give my buddy his tranny back cause we might go back if the weather holds up, and i think he is gonna run his car too, he went 12.2 at epping on motor and the guy filling the bottles didnt show up, so he wants a pass on his 175 shot.

I think the plan for now is to get 3 quarts of synchromesh, put my tranny back in it and get some more passes on it and see what i can do. Then park it for the winter and really think about the direction i wanna go with the car. I can tell you this, my bottom end is built like a brick ****housee, so if i spray the car im not fuggin around

how you plan to control the kits if you run more then 1 stage? if its how most people do it ill tell you why to run an auto...

Well i havent put a ton of research into multiple kits so i dont have a solid plan, but i would look into the NOS launcher software. Also, i am going to buy a fast/accel or Big Stuff box, and from what ive hear, they have nitrous controllers on them that are pretty good.

if i remember right they all work off a timer... every time you lift the timers start over... so say you have the first time to come on as soon as you let the clutch go. 2nd kit comes on 2 seconds out. shift to 2nd... first kit comes back on then the 2nds out for the 2nd kit... shift to 3rd... 1st kit comes on and then 2 seconds in the 2nd kit comes on.

with an auto... once the transbrake lets go the first kit comes on then say 2 seconds later the 2nd kit comes on.

id still look into them more but this is how its wired in the race car.

I never used to powershift, i broke my old motor doing it, but i started hangin out more with a friend that shifts like a gorilla, and this summer i really dialed in the clutch setup in and stopped being a btch about it and theres really no feeling like powershifting, besides i didnt build the car to cruise around i built it to beat on it and have fun.

After watching how much the nose drops from the 1-2 shift granny shifting i think anyone would be a fool not to powershift, and if i wasnt powershifting in a faceplated tranny it would take 4x as long seeing how i'd be double clutching at 6000 rpms haha

Who the **** lifts when they shift?! That's the most bogus **** I've ever heard :D

heres the deal. my car ran the exact same number s yours. over and over. you either ned to drop quite a bit of weight or change gears in the back to get a 10 second pass. not being mean thats just how its gotta work.

If he runs the same tires, it's really a matter of 60'. 1.7s are what my car cuts on 17" ET Streets, his care makes a ton more power, just needed to get it hooked. If he runs slicks, I think it could go 10s, if he hooks on the DRs, it might have it as well.

Shaving 4 tenths is a bit, but traction can make or break it. His car could be cutting low 1.5x and even into the 1.4xs on the 60'.

yea it def should be in the low 1.5's for the sixty, and from what ive heard every .1 off the sixty is worth .2 on the big end, hopefully i make it back to atco and it dosent snow or something.

I really thing that the 2.87 first versus my 3.27 gear is what hurt me off the line

it might have... thats a good bit of gearing there you lost.

It basically changed first from 12:1 ratio with myne to a 10:1 ratio with his, about a 13% difference in gearing, i think if i would have slipped the clutch on the rev limiter launch instead of sidestepping it i would have had a better chance though.
