My stang got nailed yesterday (pics of wreck), have some Q's

if I found any dents on the hood or roof, I wouldn't pay for it as obviously you didn't take that great of care of your car if you're letting people sit on it.

Not an attack, but I find this to be an ignorant statement. I understand the logic behind it the way the insurance company would see it as far as damage to the hood, and you proved that point. I'm taking the pic down, thanks for the advice, I really mean that. But how can you infer from that pic that I didn't take great care of my own mustang that I've been literally nurturing(for lack of a better word) for the past four years? By that standard, every one of those magazine cars with chicks laid out all over the hood and roof, I guess they don't take care of their cars too?

I'm not one of those anal retentive car guys that wouldn't let an old lady lean on my quarter panel if she was falling down. The girls wanted a picture to remember their Florida vacation by, so I helped them out. I don't go around letting people sit on my car for fun, in fact nobody had been on there before or after the pic. I don't get it.

If I showed the adjuster previous pics of my car and one of them was a cute birthday pic with my kids lined across the trunk for instance, he would refuse to replace my trunk lid because of that alone? That's absurd. Once again, I'm not mad at you, just wondering if this is how it works with these people.

You let woman SIT ON YOUR CAR!!???!!

It has its benefits :D Try it sometime.

You've been very helpful Police Interceptor. Thanks for looking out, and I've got some homework to do now.

GET LAWYER

Go to the hospital and get checked. Even if your not hurt get checked. the very first thing you need to do is get a lawyer. Trust me. My car is a moron magnet. I have been rearended more times then i care to count. As far as any value goes it varies from state to state. Here in California we have different laws. The insurance company will try that ACV bull**** to settle low. In actuallity they must give you the value of a restored vehicle and add the additions you added such as your rims and tires. I learned my first lesson about 12 years ago and my insurance company capped my coverage. The proceedin acciedent I got hurt bad and hired an attorney. Thats when i discovered they cannot total a classic car based on cost to repair. They only way they can total a vehicle is threw constructive. Meaning the vehicle cannot be fixed by any resonable means. They make almost every single part on that car, so that will no be an issue. In most cases an attorney will not charge you, but get his fees from the settlement the other isurance company offers. Write off any pain and suffering money to the attorney and get yoru value for yoru car or get it fixed. In the 4 preceding accients I have been in I used the same lawyer. The last repair cost about 10k because I made them take the whole back half of the car apart to line everything up. They only person I talk to is my attorney over beers and the body shop. Thats it and costs me nothing. But then again thats just my 2 cents. screw insurance companies they just thieves we pay not to rip us off.

Bahahaha I could imagine myself.

*Keeps one eye on old lady getting close and passing by*

*old lady slips*

"Hey!" *Dives between car and old lady in one of those movie slowmo NOOOOOOOOOO events*

hahaha Catching the old lady would save the car though, and might earn some respect or a reward or something.

Old ladies are ok though, they're fragile and soft, more damage would go to them. It's these young chicks you have to watch, so firm and covered in rings and belts with studs on them. Best to escort them to the car, open the door for them and get them into the seat where they can do the least damage. :nice: BUT OF COURSE, that isn't REALLY why you open a door for a lady, it's just an added bonus.

Whew covered that one up nicely... :D

Hello - first of all - I am glad you're okay - BUT - "police interceptor" is VERY wrong - the at faults insurance will protect her lock, stock and barrell. I do this everyday for a living - I work for a law firm and I handle property damage. You will most definitely be looking at a salvage title. In order to recoup the value of your car unless it is insured as an "antique" with the specialized coverage, you will have to provide proof of value - recipts, labor charges, etc etc and you will only be able to submit recent charges (less than six months ago) The catch to this is that you are in Florida - a no-fault state - you have a mighty battle ahead of you. I am working on a case with a client with 67 Nova in New york (also no-fault) who was offered $30,000.00 for the Nova (it was BEAUTIFUL) about a week before the at-fault, driving intoxicated, hit him head on - the damage is less than yours - he had been offered $1,200.00 - The insurance carrier only has to offer you FAIR BOOK VALUE for your vehicle. It is up to you to PROVE the value of your car because it is a classic - the value is only what the "buyer" will be willing to pay. In your case - the "buyer" will be the lady's insurance carrier. My client is accepting $7,500.00 for his Nova because he can only prove the new engine, new tires, and fairly new paint. The fact that it is a mint classic matters not to an insurance carrier whose job is to pay as LITTLE as possible. I wish you the best of luck - and ATTORNEYS DO TAKE PROPERTY DAMAGE ON CONTINGENCY!!!! We do for a flat fee of $295.00 - Shop around if you need to - and remember your case will be playing second fiddle to all the homeowners claims - don't let them do that - stay on top of them - the squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!!

Was your photo from a magazine shoot? There's a difference between a car nice enough to make it into a magazine with a model posing on it, and some random photo posted on the Internet of a car with several people sitting on it. Ignorance is not being able to differentiate between the two.

No, I'm not.

Your advice will drag the whole process out and net him less money in 90% of the cases. It will however line the lawyers pocket, which is all they are usually worried about.

Personally....

My neck would be hurting, Id have to go to the hospital. Then Id have to sue. Been there before......I literally tapped a woman and all the damage that was done was her license plate was bent. yeah, she got a nice $10,000 from my insurance company and got her car fixed (she got a new license plate and got her rear bumper repainted.)

Here's the deal Red, I made it very clear in my post I was not trying to get into it with you...I'm not out to make enemies. I have other things to be mad about right now, and I have no beef with you. This is the last thing I'm gonna say on this. Girls SAT on my car, and girls SAT on the magazine cars. What should it matter that my car isn't up to par with a show car, it's irrelevant. But enough, maybe my head is screwed up too, and I can't see it just yet:bang: If you feel I insulted you, I apologize, and again, I thank you for looking out and your advice.
