Hey guys, I think my timing is off..

By reviewing my signature, can you give me some kind of an idea as to where it should be and how to set it?

Regardless of temperature, it cranks and cranks in the morning before turning over and between RPM ranges of 1000 to 2400, the engine bogs and jerks.

My mechanic worked on it a few weeks ago and advanced it after replacing a head gasket, but I'm thinking it's advanced too much. Any ideas?

best bet....set it back to 10* just to get it to the factory setting....if it doesnt run right there then there is something else wrong....

Make sure the Spout was put back in. Although it would probably run real bad without it.

I'm in the process of having JMS burn a custom chip and they want to know what my base timing is..
I'm going to set it at 12 degrees. Is this reasonable?

What is this Spout I've seen mentioned in other threads? Thanks.

What is the advantage of advancing timing? ..and is it necessary to be aware of how much you advance to maintain clearance with respect to rockers and valve covers?

if you have set the timing before in the car, and you don't know what the spout is then the setting on the car is wrong. The spout is located in the passenger side fender, in the engine bay it is a little gray thing that completes the circuit for the timing advance by the computer, you remove it to set base timing, and then the computer advances it from there on.
