Not at all mustang related, but didnt know where else to go. My wife has a 93 Camry. A couple of years ago, her dad rigged up an pioneer headunit to her stock speakers. Recently, it has begun to make a popping sound through the rear speakers when ever the car is running. it sounds a lot like radio static. This is with or without the radio/CD player on. I know it is not wired correctly, because he supposely used the wire to the cig lighter for power. I know little to nothing about car audio. Any ideas where to start?

Hard to diagnose the problem if you KNOW the wiring is messed up. I would say start by pulling the aftermarket head unit and try to find some diagrams of how to properly wire it. If you cant figure it out, take it up to best buy or something, they will probably charge you like 15 bucks to fix it. That may be a better solution than you doing it yourself...ecspecially if you have little car audio knowledge.

How about this added info. It did not start until I decided it was a good idea to clean the engine. I thought I had everything covered though. Also when you turn it on, the volume is at 10(max) and there is the constant buzz of a bad ground. Might just have to take your advice and take it to Circuit city or something.
