My wife's new ride... Unfortunately, not a Mustang.

Hey all. Well, we decided that we need a second car for our strange commuting issues, and after debating about several cars including the Mazda 6, 350z and a new GT Mustang and a '03 Mach 1, we settled on a 2006 Tiburon GT/SE with a 6-speed manual. It's pretty slick, brand spankin' new with a sticker at $20.5k. She was a first-time buyer, young without much credit and got a great deal on it.

Just thought I'd share the news! I'll be getting a new True Blue (or equivalent name) GT pretty soon so we'll have matching cars. How nice

My wife apologizes in advance for her hair not being styled cutely and wearing sandals with her khakis, but it was 110 degrees at the time the pictures were taken and she promises MUCH more sexy and good pictures for the folks at Stangnet soon. Apparently as soon as I get into a speedo? ACK! Pictures with the GT and the GTSE together are a tough act right now since I'm in California and she's in Texas stationed at Ft. Hood. But once I am also there in a couple weeks there'll be some "together" pics.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. HONESTLY, I was concerned about it being a Hyundai, but it seems to me that with the 100k mile warranty and good dealer support (her dealer was awesome and very friendly, not dealer like qualities) it should be great. Tara says it's very peppy and pretty fast for a 2.7L V6. The 6 speed, she admits, is light years ahead of the 5 speed cogbox in the Mustang. Unfortunately, probably true. LOL =)

She'll always be a Mustang girl but this is a pretty cool, quick sports car alternative to a much more expensive and not as brand-new Mustang GT.

She has no feet!

LOL yeah she had to set the camera on a curb to use the auto-timer, since no one was around at the time to take a picture for her. Had she had feet, they would've shown her lovely Birkenstocks underneath her khakis. LOL, sometimes you can take the girl outta California but not the California outta the girl.

The seats look ungodly comfy, don't they! She said they kill the 2002's seats and are better than the '05+ too.

I was looking at this car on the Hyundai site and noticed it's only rated around 18/26 mpg city/highway with the 2.7l V6. About the same as a new mustang GT which is rated at 17/25. These are both for manual trannys.

It is a nice looking car though. I was looking at them before I decided to buy my Mustang.

Those things are pretty sporty looking. Back when they first changed the body style, there was an article comparing the v6 version to the Celica GT, Eclipse 6 cyl...and some other small sporty coupes, and the Tibby was either at the top or very close to it in power and acceleration. Plus 100k mile warranty. Not a bad little car.................for a girl.

Well that's fitting since it's for my wife, right?

The car has several gadgets that a Mustang has never had and probably never will - Digitally and automatically controlled climate system, automatically adjusting sound volume based on car speed, etc etc. But, they're two different cars so I won't compare. =-)

I noticed that as well, but according to her (as she's ALREADY driven it 125 miles!) the gas mileage is higher than rated on the EPA scale. She's pretty conservative with her shifts. She could also do way better with the GT than I ever could.

Tara says thank you for all the wonderful and positive feedback. She's very pleased with her "first real car" that she purchased herself.

Hope so! Was just messing with ya since a lot of people seem to say they're girl cars. I actually almost bought one about a year ago. Instead I bought the Sonata knowing I'd eventually get a sports car and my wife would get the Sonata, which will hold the kids we eventually have. Then 2 months later I bought my stang and all worked out to my diabolical plan! Anyways, congrats to you and your wife!

I expected more negative comments from a forum full of red-blooded V8 owners.
Tara's still continually impressed with the Tiburon.

I haven't driven a Hyundai since I drove a 1991 Excel... And boy, they sure AS HELL have come a LONG way!!!

This Tibby rides better than half of the newest cars I've driven lately.
