I hated it at first, but now after seeing one a couple of times in person, it's starting to grow on me. My local dealer has 1 Cobra and of course, it's a Mystichrome. And while I find myself liking it more and more, I'm not to the point I'm convinced it's worth the extra bucks.

Just curious about what others think? Do you love it? hate it? don't care? In any case, does the general consensus seem to be that it will hold it's value better than a 'regular' Cobra?

I like the color, but I prefer my 96 mystic paint over the new mystichrome. If I was looking to buy an 04 cobra it would be up there in the colors that I want. The price is just too steep for it in my opinion, I would rather get a screaming yellow or a competition orange cobra and buy all the mods I would want with the money I saved.
I do feel the car will keep its value very well though, they are only making a 1000 of them, thats half as many of the 96s, and now you can get them in a convertible to which will make the different models even more rare.

Love the paint, but not so keen about the interior receiving the treatment as well...just my .02

As mentioned, the low production numbers of this new paint scheme will *most likely* help the car retain some sense of an "extra value" down the road - it's very unique, esp once you break it down into 500 coupes & 500 'verts. But then again, it all depends on what people are willing to pay for one in the future...

I like the color but I dont think that it would be a color that I would buy. It seems that it would be too much of a hassle to maintain. In the long run I prefer to own a one color car.

the color is cool but the 96 color is nicer. Also it is not a locked paint code meaning any ricer can get the code and put it on some honda or nissan

I looked at one a couple days ago. Kinda cool, all though I'm not sure it's worth the dough. I'm anal enough with my Black Cobra and the Mystichrome would spent alot of time in the garage. What's the fun in that.

Obviously the color is sweet in nature. But it doesn't look right on this car. The car is to square for the mystic to really do its magic. The SN-95 body is more round and makes for a stunning presentation because of the smoothness of the body. I don't like looking at only the front fender and the side is green and the top is purple. I would like it more if it flowed between the colors.

Just my .02

And yes I like the screamin yellow, see below

LOL!! You're right about that. I spend enough time trying to keep my black paint clean as well, I couldn't imagine the amount of upkeep needed to protect that Mystichrome paint. It would rarely ever leave the garage...

The one I looked at yesterday had a sticker of just over $40,000. Ludicrous in my opinion. The hassles of dealing with repairs to that kind of paint (to say nothing of the interior) and the fact that I think gold cars are for the over 65 crowd mean that I'll never own one. If color shifting paint is your bag, its probably for you. I'll take basic black any day of the week.

Actually the mystics are easier to do paint repair because there is not the hassle of paint matching. What this means is unlike the solid color cars you do not have to paint the whold panel to match the paint in the event you have an accident or anything else. The car is always a diff color. When i painted my wing for my mystic the paint was a perfect match and there was no hassel of the paint matching the trunck lid.

To really appriciate the mystichrome you must see it moving by you in person. The way in which the mystichrome changes color is lightyears ahead of the 96 mystic. I was driving down the freeway going about 70 (in my bronco) and a mystichrome cobra blows by me going about 80-85. The car instead of transitioning colors like the mystic, it changes the car color as a whole in perfect unison. I thought the car was a standard silver 03 cobra when it caught my eye then "SCHWAMM" the car instanty changed to green right before my eyes, then blue a couple seconds later as if it was an alien spacecraft. This is truely the most dramatic effect Ive seen in a cars paint in my life and I was downright amazed by the technology available in paint!! If I hadnt known about the new mystichrome, I would swear I just saw either a hallucination or a UFO.

ROTFLMAO !!
You sure you didn't get ahold of some of that Humbolt Co. "tobacco" ??

All joking aside, I'm sure that they will command top dollar.......... particularly while it still has that "latest-greatest" moniker. But with respect to exclusivity, I dunno. I mean Ford only made 514 Cobra coupes in Mineral Grey in 2001, but I don't consider it to be that rare since you even see it on V6'ers.
Time will tell, I guess.

I'm thinking about getting one, good to hear about how they look going down the road.

Not good to hear that the paint isn't locked like the 96.
