are you guys putting down

My combo of course is a set of Afr 165 heads, bbk ceramic shorty headers, trickflow street intake, 70mm throttle body, 1.6 trickflow rocker arms, afm b-31 cam, windage tray, asp pulleys, mac cai, mac o/r H-pipe, 3.73 gears, and a rebuilt tranny with shift kit!

before my heads/cam/intake upgrade, with msd 6al, and minus the headers/tb, i was putting down 208 hp and 275 torque. With an aode, is it possible to break 300 with my new combo?

Other n/a auto's pls post, i am curious!

Are those numbers WITH your rebuilt tranny? (it looks like it) What kinda TC is in it?

With my pulleys, flow/headers/xpipe, I put down 203 HP and 278 TQ with a PI Stallion TC and stock tranny.

You WILL NOT hit 300 (wheels) with the addition of those mods you listed. Most guys on here with those mods are just about at 300 with 5-speeds.

Good luck and welcome to the boards!

those numbers were with the rebuilt tranny, but still stock torque converter.

I have a feeling i should be happy if i hit 290. The 208 pull was made with exhaust that had more leaks then the strainer i use on my spaghetti. Thats been corrected though.

I am going to install a 3000 stall converter next week i think. Part of me wants me to buy a stick, but after spending 1800 bucks on a new rebuild aode with a lifetime warranty, i think ill stay with what i got.

You may hit 290, but only with a torque converted added. I would still bet below that, but it is attainable.

290-300 is NOT going to be easy, but its possible. I don't think there is anyone here with 300RWHP with an AODE. You can run 12's with less than that though.

12's are possible...I thought the original post was about times, but was about 300HP or not.

When you are SOOOOOooooo Close to the car's ability to hit a certain time, the rest will be up to the the driver and other little things like track condition, alt, temp, etc.
Good luck

RC.

My car made 283 rwhp and 340 rwtq. (I think). My mods are listed in my sig. 12's are not an easy achievement with an aode. Especially a 3,700 lb aode vert. I guess I better listen to my "Bar setting Friend" and wait on installing my Vortech and get a couple more passes on my current set up. Just incase people start approaching my number. Again, The day I ran a 12.9 I made one pass on the car. Actually, the only other pass I made with the car this year was a 13.2. Damn, That vortech is gonna just have to sit in the box till spring I guess.

Anyway, if I can help you in your quest just let me know. Good luck.

Now we're talking!!!

R.C.
The original post was about 300rwhp, but I know of NO ONE to have done it in a 94-95. There are fox guys that have done it with AOD's. I think it serves people better to shoot for a certain 1/4 time than RWHP. Dyno numbers are good for tuning, and that's about it. What's the point of having 300rwhp... just for bragging rights, or do you build HP to make the car faster??? Most do it to go faster and since I didn't know of any 300rwhp cars I figured the next best thing was to name the fastest NA AODE cars here... that's why I named three. No matter what combo he builds or has, a NA 302 GT convertible AODE car is not going to run any better than 12's, so I tried to show who the other quick cars are.

P.S.- R.C., I just read that part I wrote and it seems like I'm mad... I'm not, I was just explaining why I went a little :OT: There's no flame intended.:nice:

i was curious about hitting 300hp/torque with an aode as i was wondering what kind of parasitic loss people were seing with their aode's

My only goal right now is to skip the 13's and go strait to the 12's!

I will, however, have a blower on the car by the end of the year. So to each his own.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i really was curious

RC can touch on parasitic loss as he dyno'd before and after a converter swap.

The thing I think people forget though is that dyno numbers for an auto are pretty inaccurate. You'll see some killer TQ coming for them... its not that they have some freak torque monster, it has to do with the properties of the design of the torque converter, etc. You could dyno your car, and make up a back-to-back run and the numbers could be quite different due to heat, slippage, etc. I'm not a big believer in RWHP being an indicator as to what an auto car can run, but 1/4 mile times don't lie.

Good luck with the blower, it should really wake that car up.

Somebody offer some info here, I often wonder how far behind the 5 speed guys I am. :owned:

How happy are you with the 3k stall? I wanna do the same stall speed. My car really wakes up after 3k rpm, almost to the point it feels like a throw back in the seat.

Id also like to get rid of some of the piggyness that is my car. My god the thing feels like a boat sometimes.

I have an aod/e

and I also have a 347 stroker. My motor is emission legal and I made my last dyno pull about a year 1/2 ago 310 hp (I think) but I do remember my tq numbers 380. That was with my tranny in real bad need of a rebuild. I am going in about two weeks to have it re-dynoed at a new facility in town so I'll just have to see how bad my tranny actually was during the first dyno. I just had my tranny rebuild by a buddy of my at Coleman Taylor he put all of the good stuff in for me and get this gave me a warranty! I have a 2500 P.I. stall. When I get it re-dyno'd I'll post the numbers.

I don't want to drive back to Bowling Green for another dyno pull and plus the new dyno does 1/4 mile times and a few other tricks. The new dyno is 45 miles away and Bowling Green is two hours and plus that Mustang isn't the most plush ride on the road either.

dont think of us as slower. Just a little more challenged like petey from american pie 2.

In any case, 12's here i come, thx info.

And onebad95, what kind of 60 foots were you putting down when you cut your 12.9?
