N/A Horsepower potential?

Hey guys. I'm starting to think about selling the FRPP roots blower I have and heading for the N/A route. I have a few reasons for that, being that 1) I have always been a fan of "all motor" horsepower, 2) Blown gt motors can tend to be ticking time bombs that I can't afford to repair, and 3) I really, really want to do some kind of shaker system on my car, and it won't work with the blower setup I have. The blower is sitting in my shed, so right now the car is pretty stock and waiting to head down one of these routes. So here's what I'm thinking, and about where will this put me? I have an 04 GT with TR-3650 transmission:

Accufab 70mm TB
Roush CAI
Accufab upper intake plenum
VT stage 1 N/A cams (don't want to change valve springs)
Shorty headers (not sure which brand...)
MAC catted Prochamber (have to pass emissions, and evil cops around here actually look for cats and are hard on noisy cars)
Borla stinger catback or CDC side exhaust (I know side exhaust costs a few HP, but I love the look)
Karkraft shaker hood scoop system
Steeda underdrive pulleys
Sniper 93 octane custom tune
3.73s
FRPP aluminum driveshaft

I feel like this setup would be pretty darn reliable, and a fun street car to drive. I'd like to get close to 300 RWHP. So, what do you think a setup like this would do?

Youll definatley need Heads and STG2 Cams to get at or close to 300rwhp along with LT Headers and every bolt-on possible.

Honestly a blower is not going to hurt your car as long as you dont go crazy with the boost and have a good tune. A friend of mine has a 98 Cobra with a Vortech @ 10psi through an aftercooler and hes ran it like that for going on 4 years now. Hes ran 11s in it and takes it to the track at least once a month. Plus the money you would be spending to buy and install the parts, if you dont do it yourself, would be a pretty good chunk of a blower.

I would sell the FRPP Blower then buy a Mongoose kit and MPH Boost Pipe along with a custom tune. Plus I think if you have any motor skills at all you should be able to install the blower. Then you can save up and buy a shaker system for your car, they make kits to work with centri blowers.

Installing the blower isn't an issue. I built a 302 for my old 87 over a week with a friend, and then did the top end again a few months later. I'm just not used to these modular motors. I have been thinking about a centri blower, but the roots appeals to me more if I go for boost. I'm almost tempted to just get a shaker kit from CDC and then fab up my own brackets once the blower is in to make it all work.

why sell a blower that is one third the price of the other? With the 9 lb 10 lb pulley and meth kit, $400, Hey throw in a port and polish for $350.Enough horsepower for a stock 2v motor. Roots blowers offer al most instant horsepower over a centri blower. Why spend more money? A shaker hood is only for looks. In my opinion not worth the money. Just my two cents.

I hear ya on the costs, and I know the shaker is pretty much for looks, but I love that look... I think I could make the CDC kit work with the blower anyway. I might have to fab up a bracket, since it is supposed to mount to the alternator, and with the FRPP blower, the alt gets moved. I could make a bracket that puts a place for it to mount, still use the alternator as an anchor, and put a loop around the blower neck for support. It would take some work, but I think I could do it...

Is it a Saleen, Roush Blower or is it the actuall blower that FRPP sells?

If its the FRPP Blower, I havent heard to many good things about that blower, it doesn't make much power and isn't very efficent. If your gonna do a blower then do a blower, don't do some cheap blower because you can save a few bucks. You know the saying, you get what you pay for.

There's a guy on here that made over 400 hp with some supporting mods and the FRPP blower. If you understand blowers and thier limitations then the FRPP is good for the money. Hell my 9# Intercooled KB only made 370 on a dynojet.
I think you should stay with the blower. I was going N/A route, had heads and NA cams ready but damn am I glad I went blower. That instant boost makes me smile every time. N/A needs to be spun to get the torque. I have near 400 ft/lbs shortly after 2500 RPMs. Keep that blower, fab the hoodscoop, stick with your anderson cams or a custom grind and you'll be happy. People go from N/A to blower but never from blower to N/A. There's a reason for that.:nice:

Roush, Saleen, Ford... If i am not mistaken they are all eaton blowers!?! Roush and saleen are the m90's.....ford is m112....So....reliable yes...So why dog something that you only know hear say. And if i am not mistaken roush prob designed it for ford. So it may not cost $4000, but if i went and spent the extra $2500 thats in my pocket, i would have a lot more hp they someone who pays for a base kit through vortech or kb. My experience with this blower, taken what ya want. When i finish my car, i will get it dynoed and give a final price on all i paid. So people can pull their fingers out of there azzs and quit hateing.:D

I believe the older Roush blower is the same as what Dirty_D and I have. I've seen it on Ebay, the older Roush stage 3s had this one. It is the same M112 Eaton on the Cobra of 03-04 fame, with a different intake setup mated to it. I'm sure with a good heat extracting hood, a nice tune, and methanol, this thing can be just as good as any other roots blower, and won't be the "cheap heat soaker" everyone claims it is. I personally like the shaker, so no heat extraction for me, but adding cold ram air at speed might help a little bit. It'll help alot when it puts a big smile on my face every time I see it shaking in the hood. Hell, that's why we build these cars, right? To be happy with 'em...
