n/a Stroker guys, what have you gained going to a steeper rear gear?

Just curious to see if anyones done the swap to a steeper rear gear in n/a 331/347's. I'm currently running a too small 3.73 and need to upgrade to a 4.30. I'm crossing the traps about 1,000 rpm's too low.

What rpm's are you turning. I ran a 4.10 gear in my NA 347. It was also 11:1
and fuel injected and had a c-4 and 3500 10" stall it ran some 7.30's in a full weight 90 gt with leather and p/s, but no a/c. Never took it to 1/4 mile track. Also it had a small soild roller and Bennett racing upper on a GT-40 lower.

i just put 4.30s in my 331....have to wait till the track opens back up though

I don't recall exactly but I crossed the traps under 6,000 rpm. Probably about 5,800 rpm. I ideally need to cross around 6,700 rpm.

I went from 3:73's to 3:08's, lol, wrong way. Did I mention that I went from a 5spd to C4 though

Well Train if you go to a 3.08 compliment that ratio w a big t-76 what do you think?

What size tire are you running? What transmission are you running? And what MPH are you expecting the car to run?

25.5" tire (planning on a 26" et street drag radial) tremec TKO trans and the combo should run around 120 mph.

Mine is not a stroker but I have 4.30s with a 28" ET street. It comes through the traps about 6200 RPM. I`m only going 116mph though. I wish I could go 120mph. With a 26" tire expect about 400-500 more RPM.

Whats your set up? About 400 rpm sounds right i'd say between a 26" and a 28" tire.

91 coupe Stock short block, AFR 165s, Trick flow stage 2 cam, Typhoon intake, Tremec, 4.30s and 28" et streets.
I have tryed a 26" tire and the car slowed down. I was on the limiter the last few feet of the track.

Hey GRN...I have posted my stuff a couple times...My 331 stroker loves my 4.30's that I just put in...it picked up 3 tenths and 3 mph, However...I could still use more gear, but the unit will take care of that!

with my 331 setup....

4:10's with a Motorsport T-5... 11.8's @ 117mph NA.... there is still more in the car before the bottle comes on....

Ran those times on a set of ET streets... and was crossing the line a little over 6000 RPM if I remember right....

ahh...A BIG ONE!!!

Probably the new Zex perimeter plate system...going for mid to low 10's (uncorrected at 2710 ft)...after I build the rearend and put it on a Real slick... no more M/T et street radials
