Nearly completed MassFlo EFI install

Here is a photo of my nearly completed MassFlo EFI install, just the radiator and some cooling system parts remain to be installed before I can start it up.

I am having a custom aluminum radiator being made at a local shop, I've had him relocate the mounting brackets so I'll have more room between the water pump and the rad. I may want to use an electric fan in the future and will now have 4 1/8" of space available. Once I get it started and set the timing I'll cut the ignition wires so they fit better. There are some more photos on my CarDomain pages.

Your install looks great. In fact, the whole car is mint!

With new toys I tend to want to get the install done fast so I can play, then end up kicking myself and cleaning things up later. You obviously have the patience to take your time and do it right from the beginning.

Started it up yet?

For me the satisfaction comes from taking my time, doing the research before buying parts and then installing them just so. The little things that catch someone's eye when they look at the car. Besides, I won't be driving this car in the winter here in NJ, so I have lots of time to get it right the first time.

I started it the first time on April 2, everything worked correctly right out of the box. No error lights, leaks, or any problem at all. I had even adjusted the timing, and idle speed. Then one evening........

I started it up with the rad cap off. I noticed coolant shooting out of the open rad moments after starting the engine. After shutting it off and checking the oil level, I discovered water in the oil. A head gasket had blown, it appears the head gaskets were not torques correctly when the engine was built. Not something one expects from a Keith Craft stroker engine. Needless to say I was pissed and had a lot of work to do to correct the problem.

I hope that I will finish it up this afternoon, and maybe restart it today. I have new wheels, Vintage 50 series to go on the car, so if I can get those done this week, I'll be out driving on the weekend.
