im trying to decide what to do about my brakes. theyre down to the squealer and i could either cut the rotors and buy new pads, or do a complete replacement w/ 13" cobra brakes. of course the 13" will be more expensive. about $500 total. my other option is just paying ~$100 for some new pads. what would you all advise i do? if i did buy the cobra brakes, i would have to put them on credit and pay them off w/ my 20% APR if i did go with just new pads and cutting the stock rotors, what brand/model brake pads would you recommend? what would you do?

IMO just go to autozone and buy some cheap decent brake pads and save up for the pbr cobras. i got a set (for the GT) of carbon-metallic pads, they were cheap and good at breaking.

open bleeders !

"what ever you do open the bleeder valves front & back before compressing the pistons" , also change all the fluid ...flush it till its clear ! the fluid goes bad ....bleed it starting at the rear ....passanger then drivers side , then the front ... I used all stock stuff on my 99 GT , the new fluid helps DOT3 or DOT4 the higher the DOT # the more heat the fluid can take ...opening the bleeders is important because you dont want to force fluid back into the anti-lock & other valves ....take your time 2guys maybe 2hrs then road test easy till they set in ........ good luck

You should be able to find a complete 13" Cobra front brake kit that includes,
Rotors, Calipers, Steel break lines, Banjo bolts and pads for around 400 bucks.

i just hit 35k and im almost down to the squealer. i just checked. its very close. its hard to hear though with my exhaust being so loud i have to let my engine idle while moving and then hit the brakes at idle just to have a chance of hearing.
