need a job, need serious help finding one

I've been looking for a summer job for over a month now, and im having a really hard time for some reason. As soon as you say your 18, they realize your going to college, and that the job is only for the summer and that you'll be leaving. Then they dont want you. I went to 2 ford dealers, i went to a pontiac dealer, i called many other places, ive been looking all over and no job. Its getting to be later in the summer, and i needa make some good money before i leave for school in september, and i need some suggestions on where to look, and what you guys had for a job at this time. Im in serious need of some help rite now. Thanks:SNSign:

going into 4th year university and it doesn't really get any better until you graduate. I got lucky last year with a cushy office job but this year I'm busting my ass working landscaping...it's been off and on cause it's my step dad and he only uses me when he needs me...anyway it's good work...keeps you in good shape and should pay well.

How about detailing cars? Maybe find a place where you can make nice tips? Maybe parking cars at some wealthy establishment, hotel, country club, restaurant? Just a coupla ideas for ya.

Well you could allways find a nice little corner in a city... show a little skin if you know what I'm saying. :D
been there done that haha jk, but seriously...im gonna call back a place that said they were gonna try and fit me in for valet parking, but thats not enough work...i needa try my best to make $1600 by october for insurance cause i owe the rents a bit cause they helped me out financially when i had the accident...

Call a temp agency. Nothing is exciting but if you bust ass it works out. I started doing that between frosh and soph year of college and a file clerking job turned into an engineering internship because I had good work ethic. I carried that internship with me between soph and junior year too.

CONSTRUCTION!!!!!!!You'll make like 4 to 5 hundred a week off the books.Your gonna bust your ass though a deal with some crazy people.I was framing houses right outta highschool, learned a trade a was able to buy my 89 GT paying $2500 a year in insurance.

I worked at Wally World. Lots of college age people there. Open 24 hours so the hours are flexible, and working the grocery side was a blast. Plus, 28 hours a week is full time there. So you get benefits and 10% off most things in the store. Also if you work a profitable store, at the end of the year they give out bonus checks. Our was sometimes $400.

The other main job college kids had when I was there, was UPS, or Fed Ex. Many shifts to chose from, good pay, and you just move boxes around. ;-)

Summer is half over, now is NOT the time to be picky. Fast Food it if you HAVE too.... it's not THAT bad, money is better than no money.

Seriously .... another vote for UPS. When I was an M-day soldier and I was going to school .... this job was awesome. Most of them will let you work one of two shifts. In the morning ... or the evening. About 95% of the other people there were also going to school. And this job will keep you in shape ..... more than you would think. You usually only work around 5 hours a day. I know I was getting paid a little over 13 an hour when I left (a few years ago). And I was getting a little overtime everyday. So the pay is really good for the hours you work.

The only downside is that it can be a little tough to get your foot in the door. It helps to know someone. Get in your UPS dude's (on your route) graces and try to use him as a reference, lol.
