Just picked up a 2006 V6 Pony Package 5 spd manual this weekend. I have noticed what others have talked about with stiff shifts and whine in certain gears.
I have a noise occurring in 1st and second gears that has me worried. I thought at first I was hearing rod knock. I can rev the engine with the clutch in with no noise so I am pretty sure it is coming from the trans or clutch.
This is going to be hard to describe.
When you accelerate from a stop you can hear a noise. Its rate speeds up and slows as long as you are in gear. The sound rate reminds me of when as a kid we would take playing cards and attach them to a bikes frame so they would strike the spokes, making a noise we thought was like a motorcycle.
None of this exactly describes it. I am going to take it by the dealership and see what they say but that may be a few days.
Has anyone experienced anything close to this? I came across a posting talking about the throwout bearing causing problems but I have only heard one making a squealing noise
