just picked out a 351w block for free, its a 1994,,has hyd.roller cam..1 piece real main seal okay....my question is where the hell do you get a 408 stroker crank for a 1 piece real main seal ,,,,do they make one ,,or do i need to find another block,,i dont know much about the newer blocks,,i dont see any listed,,the 302s im sure had both kits ,,do the 351ws???have both also

Get ahold of DSS. THey advertise in MM&FF, and they we're very helpful with me and my engine q's. But i'd feel fortunate to get that block, cuz you can use stock style 5.0 roller cams, not reduced base circle cams, saving you $.

on cam also i got a soild roller cam,in my 79 block...will that cam work in the 94 block..the lifter bosses look taller???are the truck blocks stronger??than the 79s???also got a c-6 out of the truck also it was a 3/4 ton??do they have more clutches than pass, car ones??

The lifter bosses are taller in the 94-up blocks. Thats why they accept 5.0 roller cams. As for stranoger, I've actually heard that they are a little weaker, but I've never seen anyone break a windsor block that was well tuned. The tranny, not sure, could be, but if you are puting it in a Mustang, just use a C4. Plenty strong, and not nearly as big and heavy.

You need more then a crank to make a 408, you'll also need the rods, and pistons... Contact Brian Adams www.adperformance.com or [email protected] tell him Rick sent you ;)

The late model blocks are weaker but will accept the stock dogbone lifter retainers and stock style lifters, regular base circle cam.

The older non-roller blocks need link bar retrofit lifters to use a standard base circle cam, or then can be drilled and machined for the dog bone set-up but will then require a small base circle cam. The 69-70 blocks are 9.48" deck height, 71+ is 9.503" deck height. The 69-74 blocks are much stronger then the 75+ blocks, they have more nickel content and are beefer in the mains and front webbing.

When your pushing 750HP the stock blocks become the weak point.

Don't even consider the cam from the 79 if it wasn't a big stroker, you'll need a good cam made for the 408, along with all the supporting parts. What will the entire combo be.
