i've got a fresh 306 shortblock with a b-cam and mildly ported e7s.my supporting mods are a typhoon intake,70mm edelbrock tb,24lbers with a 75mm pro-m meter and a 190 lph pump.i also have a blaster tfi coil and a msd 6a box with flowtech equal length shorties with a magnaflow catback.i'm getting the gt-40 aluminum heads week after next,i think they're the y heads and i was wondering about changing cams and what would go good for overall performance, not just the d/s or topend.the car is a 5 spd. with 3.55 gears but i'm probably going to a 3.73 or 3.90 gear set to compensate for the high geared t-5z tranny i have.any suggestions?

Keep the cam... the heads will make a lot of good power with the B cam !! IF you want MORE power with the B cam , install it in at 103 ICL.. it will make all kinds of power thru the entire RPM range!! SOOOoo... save the bucks... bump the cam up 4*... gasket match the heads to the intake ( felpro 1250 Gasket) and you'll LOVE IT!!

Just me.......................

thanks thumper,i think i'll keep it now.i had almost thought about a f cam but wasn't sure.i didn't want an e cam because we tried it in a friends 95 gt and i wasn't very impressed with it but i think my b cam performed and sounded better.

Try advancing your cam 4 degrees like thumper said or get a Steeda #18...it has more low end than the b cam and Steeda went 11.92/113 way back in '92 with NO juice with one.
