How reliable are the 99 Cobras??? I knwo there was a HP problem, was that truely fixed? and if so, how do i tell???? Im tired of my 95 GT and want to move on andi dont want to bother figiting with it to make it faster. Rather get an almost fresh start (since i cant afford a brand new car).

I found a White 99 Cobra coupe that has never been molested (no mods at all) for about 13k.

ALso looking at the 96-98 Cobras. While i like the body style, i wanna feel like i moved up since it looks almost like mine, haha. But im still considering them.

I am very happy with my 99 Cobra. I have 28,000 miles and have had no problems. I think that most all of the 99's were "fixed" with the recall.
The recall was a lower intake manifold fix and both mufflers were replaced with a better free flow muffler. Also a reflash of the powertrain control module was done at the time of the fix. You can tell if the manifold work was done by looking at the lower intake manifold, behind the alternator, just to the left of the black bracket. There should be a blue or a green dot on the front corner of the lower intake manifold. A blue dot=manifold was extrude honed and a green dot =manifold was acid dipped.
I believe the new mufflers should be part #YR33-5230-AA R/Side
#YR33-5232-AAL/Side
Good luck with the Cobra hunting

All year Cobras were reliable. I am very happy with both of my Cobras. The 99's all should be fixed as stated above. The only thing I don't like about them is the rear bumper doesn't say COBRA, and the silver wheels. I love the 01 Cobra polished wheels. I would buy that 99 your looking at, buying a stocker is the best way to go, white is great with tinted windows. Good luck man!

I went from a 95 gt to a 99 cobra and I luv my car although it took some getting used to, basically after gears your good :nice: My car has neither of those markings but yet when I called svt they said my car had the recall done and also I had mine dynoed and it was about 335ish at the crank.
good luck

45,000 miles and no problems

I have had my 99 Cobra for 45,000 miles and had no major problems. The engine seams as strong as when it was new. Had the belt tensioner replaced at 30,000 miles, under warranty. Modifications include Borla exhaust, shifter, 3.73 gears, progressive rate springs, Koni shocks and urethane bushings. This is a daily driver, to and from work, all year except when it snows. I may get a set of Blizzaks ($$$) for the winter. Good luck!
