Need Confirmation from Engine Builders Please Help

Just wrapping up my first 5.0 rebuild. I am now to the point where I am adjusting the rockers. I have TFS Twisted Wedge heads that came with the "trickflow" 1.6 stud mount roller rockers. Well, I coated the lifters with oil and put inplace along with the supplied pushrods and then the rockers. I try to tighten down the nut and I notice maybe half of my lifters are bleeding down a little, i.e. the lifter is compressing and not allowing me to adjust the rockers propperly. I have looked around the site and I have found conflicting reports on how to remedy this. Should I fill the engine with oil and prime the lifters with the oil pump drive shaft. Also going to remove the lifters and coat with assembly lube as I just used engine oil before. Please advise.

Smitty.

You can prime the motor but they will bleed down as it sits and as you are doing the adjustment.

Get them all adjusted and get it running, you will find you may need to set them a few times. It is a feel thing, after setting a few hundred sets you will find the balance of getting them right the first time.

Engine oil on the lifters is fine, no need to remove them for a coating with assembly lube.

Good Luck...

I usually find 1/2 turn works good, 3/4 of a turn will make them a little quieter but will make a little less HP.

just snug the rocker down until the pushrod has zero clearance between the rocker arm and lifter, then give it another 1/2 to 3/4 turn and that's it. This is the most basic and easiest way to do it.
