I have a 89 5.0. I am doing away with the old stock intake setup... My question is will I run into any problems once completed after installing these parts I'm about to list. Will I need anything else to keep from having an issue with the car running well... I am going to the Edelbrock RPMII intake, 70mm throttle body, C&L 76mm mass air with the tube calibrated for 24# injectors, Ford Racing 24# injectors, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator... I already have a Holley 190lph fuel pump and full exhaust work. For now Im going to use the stock heads, Im just lookin to pick up a little more power with doing the intake and all that goes with it... Will I need anything else or should I be able to add all these parts without it being too much fuel or too much air?

I'd think you shouldn't have problems. An a/f gauge my benefit you, but basically you just need to tune the fuel pressure to where it runs best at wot. Do like 3 time runs at each fuel pressure, 38, 39, etc then average it and set it to where it runs the fastest. The computer should be able to control the a/f pretty decent throughout the rpms tho, once the computer "relearns" things.

you shouldnt need a A/F guage, seems like you are going down the right path, that RPM II intake is excellent. I dont know how long youve been working on cars, so dont take anthing as an insult that i say.

when you remove the distributor mark the position of the rotor on the cap, and stuff a rag in the hole, cause if you drop something in there its gonna ruin your week. when you reset the timing make sure its at 10 degrees(dont eyeball it, use a timing light), and the fuel pressure should be around 38-40 psi. When you tighten the upper intake to the lower, dont over tighten the bolts, you dont have to go crazy, and the intake ears can break, ive done it, and it sucks. also put a rag or cut a piec of cardboard to cover the lifter valley when you are scraping the gasket junk off of the heads

I would suggest getting a 180 degree theromstat also, and you can use the stock ones but new intake bolts wouldnt hurt. Just take your time and label everything, if you rush, you risk making a stupid mistake that will cost you alot of money

That's a LOT of intake and injector for an otherwise stock engine. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money for injectors and MAF until you change the cam and heads.

Thanks for all the input, I know I should do heads and a cam, but its not stepping up too terribly much, I figured what im doing is the max with like said, otherwise stock engine, but the only thing that will be stock is the cam and heads. I got a deal on all the stuff, between ebay and friends, I got all this stuff for about 300 bucks... yeah a steal right? lol I got all brand new bolts, everything. Ceramic headers, im making sure everything is done right when i do it, takin my time ya know

But the fuel pressure regulator pressure was the one thing i wasnt too experienced with. Ive been workin on cars as a hobby since I was about 16. Im 23 now, and more the capable. But any info is always a huge help. Ive always done stock replacement, just fixing things, not upgrading. So I figured I would try to get some opinions before I jumped in elbow deep. The car runs 14.5 pretty much totally stock other then exhaust. stock gears, everything. And thats with a terrible reaction time and 17" 03 Cobra's on it. Heavy ass wheels. But if I can get it to turn in the 13's with what Im about to put on it. I will be more then happy for now, until i put some twisted wedge heads and an E303 with 3.73s in it. Everything Ive done to the car has been done by myself, paint everything. Im adding pics now. But still if you all have anymore thoughts in mind I need to take in consideration, by all means Im all ears. THANKS!!!!

With the RPMII you will be lucky to match your stock times.

the rpm II is a great intake, but with the stock heads you wont be able to take advantage of the extra airflow. the stock cam is a great powermaker and is super stable. if you want to see the most out of your setup either port your stock heads or look for a cheap set of gt40's. then you can better utilize your intake and the 24# injectors

What we're trying to say is that adding parts for the sake of adding parts isn't always a good thing. The stuff you're adding is fine, but your stock engine isn't equipped to handle the increased fuel and airflow. It would be fine for a car with heads and a cam that was going to see a lot of strip duty, but your gains on a stock car are going to be minimal at best and your low end torque and mileage are going to suffer.

thanks, that was my whole point of posting that question. since ive not done any major upgrades to a 5.0, i wanted to get the down low before i did all this work and felt nothing. my bank account is feelin it right now and its going to be awhile before i can afford heads.

The Eddy RPM II intake with stock heads combo is not a good idea. That intake is good for high rpm performance but the stock heads will just choke it off, so the result will be the worst of both worlds; a loss of low rev torque, little if any torque gain at high revs, and a poor idle due to reduced vacuum.
The Eddy Performer (not RPM) would work much better than the RPM for the stock heads and it'll be even better with medium performance heads such as the GT40P, GT40X, and Eddy Performer (1.90" intakes). Use the RPM intake if you're going for higher performance heads such as the TFS TW's or the AFR 165's together with a more aggressive cam.

I agree with most everyone here. The intake and injectors are way more than you need. Sell them both and get a Cobra/GT40/Explorer intake. You'll be much happier and you'll have done mods that will improve your performance.

What do you think of my combination of parts plus a set of GT40 heads and an E cam? I mean the bigger throttle body is a definate, and the bigger mass air is a no brainer combining those two parts. If im dumpin more air into it with all that, plus a better intake, why not dump more fuel into it with the 24s? GT40s should give me a good gain and I woulda thought with the parts i plan to put on it would benefit the car?

the rpm II is more of strip cam. if you are going to spend most of your time pinging off the rev limiter hen yeah its a great choice. if the car is a daily then it will fall on its face from red light to red light b/c the low vacuum will kill your city driving.

Put the 24's and MAF away for when you upgrade your heads and cam, throw the intake up on eBay and use the proceeds to get a Cobra/Explorer/GT40. A friend of mine picked up a dyno-verified 20+ horsepower on a bone stock 5.0 with nothing more than a Cobra intake and 65mm throttle body. The gain was largest in the 1500-3000 rpm range and completely changed the personality of the car.

If you upgrade the heads, cam and intake then yes, you can install the 24 pound injectors. You engine will be making more power and will have a need for more fuel. But don't forget that you may have to upgrade the fuel pump at that point.

The reason you're not going to get huge gains with just the TB/MAF and intake upgrade is simple. You're still leaving the 2 most critical parts to improved performance stock. The heads and cam. They are where power is made. Screw them up or leave them stock and you are limited big time.

All of the parts from the MAF to the choice of intake are a package that needs to be matched together in order to acheive the maximum potential. Match the heads to cam to the intake to the injectors etc.... Or

The head bone's connected to the neck bone... The neck bone's connected to the back bone...
