We really should start a new thread on breaking in an engine properly. I broke my bracket racing Olds 455 in a similar fashion as this web page suggests. I had Arias pistons, and started her up and ran it for 10-15 minutes at between 1500 and 2000 rpm's, then changed the oil out to synthetic. Then straight to the track, full throttle. No problems. Car ran faster than most people thought it would, including me. All depends on how it is honed.
